Calico Cafe — Restaurant in Mission Township

Third time here. Drive 40 miles on our Harleys. Terrible experience this time. Won't be back. Wasn't that busy. Waited 30 minutes for a bacon and egg breakfast and raisin bread French toast. Brought us just raisin toast and apparently misunderstood. Waitress apologized and we were understanding. Ok so far and waited some more. Then couldn't get anyone to bring coffee to us. Served all around us. FINALLY they come to table, quickly poured some in my husband's and before I could say anything she was gone. Didn't ask if I wanted any. I called out after her but was ignored however the rest of the other patrons heard me calling for "miss"..."excuse me Miss". Someone must have told her to come back and she asked me in a rude tone what do i want? I told her I had wanted coffee when she was at the table but not now. I asked for some foil to wrap my bacon up. She went and got it and just threw it on the table. Never apologized or tried to be nice. Our original waitress finally came over and apologized that she was tied up at register. We asked for the bill and I decided I would go outside and wait. My husband waited another 10 minutes for the bill and was told that there were other customers being helped but they would get the bill shortly. Definitely making sure everyone I know is aware of this bad experience and I would not recommend this to anyone. I guess they don't need the business in a small town. Probably the worst service I have ever had in my life. My family came here for the first time and literally the worst service ever. It wasn’t bad at first, but after a while it did. We got our coffee and all that but we finished it and it was probably another 20 minutes before we got a refill. I ordered a waffle and never got syrup. My boyfriend went up to go ask for it and received a dirty look from the person he asked. We got it shortly after. By the time we were done eating, my boyfriend realized he didn’t get his biscuits and gravy. We waited and waited for someone to bring us the check because we were annoyed at this point and just wanted to leave. Finally my boyfriend just went up and asked for it and he paid. The person who rang him up almost didn’t even give him his card back if he wouldn’t have asked for it. He also mentioned the biscuits and gravy and they said “oh we’ll have that made to go for you”. Not once did anyone apologize for anything. Our waitress barley ever checked on us. Horrible experience but the food was fantastic. We were nice to our waitress and tried to be understanding so I’m not sure why this experience was so horrible. We will...

The Place The Calico Cafe is located at 215 N Robinson St, Sheridan, IL. It's a in a rural setting with a warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere. There is adequate table seating or a counter if you prefer.

The Menu The Calico has a great breakfast menu. Many dishes I would love to try. We were here for lunch so we got an assortment of things. The grand kids enjoyed hotdogs and toasted cheese sandwiches. The adults tried the Rueben corned beef, fresh sauerkraut on marbled rye bread. The special of the day was meatloaf. We also ordered a Garden Chicken Salad, chicken breast, crisp greens tossed with tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese. The Reuben was very good, the meatloaf... well it's meatloaf, the salad and the kids entrees were done nicely. The french fries were delicious and served in a gracious proportion size.

The Service/Experience/Value This was a fun country experience at the cafe. Our waitress, Angie, was very nice and serviced our tabled well. The prices are very reasonable and presented a very good value. recommend taking in the Calico cafe when your in Sheridan. I'll bet breakfast...
