A guide on how to enter into the HGTV smart home sweepstakes
If you are interested to know how to enter into the HGTV smart home sweepstakes, you should watch out for an announcement toward the end of each year. Remember that the rules can change every year, but there are some useful tips on how it usually works.
Generally, the entry is open to residents of the United States. If you decide to enter, you must be at least 21 years old. You are allowed to take part in the Dream House sweepstakes daily and in some years, you can even obtain extra entries for certain actions such as the referral of friends, entering via partner websites and other methods. Just make sure that you will check every year for any changes to these giveaway rules.
You also have the option to enter the HGTV Dream Home giveaway via mail. The difference with the online option is that you can enter as often as you want via the postal service.
In case you decide to enter the giveaway by mail, it is recommended to set a budget first. It is not advisable to decorate your envelopes either. In the Winner Drawing back in 2016, HGTV presented several of the artistically crafted envelopes that they received. Sadly, there was no word on whether one of them was the winner.
If a person is lucky to win the giveaway, HGTV usually shocks the winner with an “ambush” which catches the winner by surprise. In most cases, they recruit family members and friends to help organize a surprise declaration and record the reactions of the winners.
What will the winners receive?
By now, you are familiar with the steps on how to enter into the HGTV smart home sweepstakes. Let us now take a close look at what the winners will receive.
Every year, the Dream Home Sweepstakes winner will receive the house itself along with the furnishings and artwork, a hefty cash prize and a new vehicle.
Oftentimes, additional prizes such as a dream home for pets or even a new boat for waterfront assets are included. In most cases, the estimated total prize value can reach up to $2 million or more.
In recent years, the winner was given the option to choose a cash award instead of the Dream Home itself. If the winner decides to go for this option, they will acquire the correlated prizes such as the cash, vehicles, and fixtures but HGTV holds the rights to the house. Usually, they sell the house to a private bidder.

Read moreSo this restaurant is off Menge Avenue, since it has been in the news so much just the exit we thought we would check out what the hoopla was and found this Mexican restaurant along the way. It was lunchtime and it wasn’t that busy so that was nice. Like most Mexican restaurants the menu is very busy. They did have fish tacos as a special today at 2.50 but we decided to order taco salads. The overall atmosphere of this restaurant is quite nice very clean. Our server. Was nice and pleasant, and our food came quite quickly, which was a bonus. The salsa was a little bit soupy. I personally like chunky salsa, but some people may like it this way. The steak salad was seasoned well but the bell peppers and onions were under cooked…. almost raw. The taco salad on the other hand was half chicken half beef, which was a specially order. It was very good and tasty. Did not try any alcoholic beverages, but they had a very well stocked bar. I would call this a very quaint, Mexican restaurant off the beaten path. The ladies bathroom was very clean, as was the whole restaurant. They do have high chairs. If you want to bring your children, I actually think it would be a good place to...
Read moreWent to eat there tonight because it’s real close to our house (not our usual Mexican spot). Needless to say won’t be going back again. We ordered kids meals for our young children, when we got the food they were larger than normal portions. We asked and the waitress said oh I thought they wanted regular meals. I was clearly frustrated without getting angry, just waiting for a “we will adjust the bill” or something like that. Instead waitress said sorry. I ordered a steak fajita quesadilla it was tiny and only had steak and cheese no grilled veggies (like it’s supposed to come with). So then I get the bill they charged me $7.99 each for my three kids food (instead of $4.99). Then I look at the bottom of the bill and it says $6.00 special charge. I ask what that is and she said the manager said the meals my kids got were the lunch price and it was an extra $2 each up charge. So basically my kids got a cheese quesadilla and rice for $10 each. Food was nothing to write home about either. Won’t...
