We were driving through on an 8 hour roadtrip and stopped here based on google review ratings. We were NOT disappointed. They were fairly busy and there was a sign stating they are not fast food and expect a small wait. Well , they are very efficient. Small wait was accurate. It was far faster compared to most places at the peak lunch hour. My husband got the 1/2 chicken and I got a pulled pork sandwich. Both were delicious! Seasoning was perfect and we loved their bbq sauce. Mac and cheese was yum! Ladies taking your order were friendly and efficient and happy to answer questions and make recommendations. Our server had a great smile. They didn’t wear name tags so I don’t know her name. She’s a light skinned young African American lady. You can’t miss knowing who she is: she has a warm, friendly smile and makes sure you are taken care of. Only potential negative thing is you pay at time of order so if you are paying with a card you don’t know what the service will be like. I gave a good tip but she deserved more. Fortunately we had cash on hand. We could easily see why this was an award winning...
Read moreWe stopped by because parents had ate there couple of times in the last few months and said that I should give it a try, and I did. I had the large pulled pork sandwich with slaw and sweet tater casserole. There was plenty of pork on the sandwich, but it could have been moister and had more flavor, though it was at least edible. The slaw though a little too sweet was good, but would have been better if it had been chopped a little smaller and it would have been nice if the sandwich had came with slaw on it. The sweet tater casserole was just straight up good. My better 1/2 had the buffet because it had whole catfish on it and she said the fish was real good, but the sides she got were underseasoned. We also got burger to go for my SIL, and she thought it was great and she also liked the sweet tater casserole. We will be going back again, with a planned trip for a Wednesday, since that's the day they have ribs on the buffet. My Lg. Pulled Pork Plate with 2 Sides was $9.99 The Buffett wad $12.99 The Burger with 1 side was $7.99 For the serving sizes, I think all of the...
Read moreWe were there a few weeks ago and they had signs up announcing new menu. We come to Laurel about once or twice a month to have dinner with my brother's family. The food here is good and the service is fine. The new menu sucks. Nothing really changed except the prices. Two people could eat here reasonably. Now it's unforgivable. It was not so long ago that you could buy the same BBQ plate in the parking lot or on the side of the road being sold by a church or someone to raise money for something. The food is good, it's just no great or worth the price. If I want BBQ, I'll be cooking it at home myself. We have options, just like with the cable and other companies. When you price yourself out of the market, people choose the alternative, if it means staying home and cooking instead of eating out; well I have better things to do with my money. $60 for two plates...
