Good Food but....
Smells like pee when you first walk in. Someone is mopping the main floor with the bathroom mop.(Or they are the same) Super unorganized. Employees are using small notepads for orders. You dont know where to stand to order. Are you in the gas station line or the Bbq line. Junk In front of the menus. The grocery store Deli is more organized and efficient. There needs to be an assembly line style to the place. There is definitely demand but its chaos. Remove the drink cooler and you have plenty of room for the food counter to wrap around the room. Is it a gas station that sells BBQ or a BBQ that sells gas(it was broken). Focus on one or the other. Seems like they should drop all the (Convience Store) junk that is IN THE WAY(and poorly stocked) and go 100% BBQ joint. Parking is a disaster. You have to show people where to park or they will park anywhere. And i do mean anywhere. Way too many options. Some were named the same or similar. Whats the difference? Reduce the menu to 5 or so options with add ons. You walk in and its menus everywhere and feels like 8,000 options. If you have anxiety, dont go in there.
The moral of the story is: If your gonna be trashy and unoganized you better have good food. Its not my go to but it does have good brisket. The good food seems to be their saving grace.
To remove stress: Focus on your highest profit, lowest maintenance product and customers and delete...
Read moreRose's BBQ seems to have decent prices on meal specials but if you choose to order à la carte, then expect to spend about $30 for two people, easily (including two drinks).
The barbecue chicken is okay. The fried chicken and potato logs seem a bit dry to me. The loaded potato salad, smoked sausage and shrimp boudin on a stick are pretty hard to beat though. I get those exclusively when I visit Rose's BBQ.
Service.. it's hit and miss. I never get charged the same price for certain items each time I go. It's really cramped with all the gas station items and booths for dining in. There are two separate registers so that gas station only customers (register closest to entrance) can get in and out of there a little faster.
There is a small pump in front of the building with a couple of parking spaces. From what I've seen, customers tend to crowd that area so you may want to consider parking in the area to the left of the building. You'll have to walk a few extra feet to get to the front door but you'll almost always avoid the headache of trying to get...
Read moreI have heard so much about this place and decided to stop in with my husband. He has always maintained there BBQ is awesome. He and his Uncle use to stop there regularly coming from hunting. Well yesterday I stopped there and was greeted with good service. Even an hour before closing, they were busy. Several more guests showed up while we were waiting in line. We got our food to go because we were tired. I tried their sausage, ribs, and chicken. I will say this, it had a nice smoked flavor, but the quality fell short. We really should have gotten there after they took a slab out, but they were done cooking for the day. By the meat sitting in a case under a heating lamp, it dried the meat out a little bit. It still wasn't a deal breaker. The sausage was on point. I guess I am use to my husband's BBQ so it was a little different, but it was good. I would highly recommend travelers and tourists to stop by if they are ever in between Hattiesburg or Gulfport. It will be worth the stop...
