Love this place! If you love Indian food, you are in for a good experience. But don't go for the atmosphere or the seating options. That's not what they are about here. They focus on fresh food that tastes amazing and lots of it! The portion sizes are huge. The food has been made fresh to order every single time. One meal (in my family) could feed two or three people. Lots of delicious worthy vegetarian options. Interesting desserts and not only do they have Lassi's in their walk out cooler, they have Mango Lassie's in their walkout cooler! As I mentioned, seating options,.. you could but you will feel you're at a Truck stop. Cause that's exactly where you are. But go anyway. Because you love Fresh Indian Food that's always hot and ALWAYS GOOD! (wow, I deserve a discount;)
EDIT following:
Reflecting on my review made a couple years ago, I still love their food!
The Indian food is just as good and fresh as I’m saying here.
Something to note, one of my favorite all time items is rice pudding. The rice pudding here is flavored with blanched (?) slivered almonds, raisins, and cardamom. I’m ‘crying’ cause they’ve stopped using the almonds and raisins. WHY WHY WHY?! I feel like it’s a budget cut?? A restaurant has to be veeeeery careful about what it introduces and what it takes away. Considering this place has terrible atmosphere anyway,…though I still crave Indian food, I’ve only been back a couple times fearing these potential budget cuts are going to affect the other dishes!!
Maybe it’s not the case, but a ‘press release’ on their Facebook page for us that started to become addicted to the high quality ingredients (they also used to offer plain regular old rice pudding-and still do-but I don’t want it!) would have been great to do a little marketing PR, …
There aren’t any Indian restaurants that can compare to what you’ll get here in Southwest Missouri unless you go to Springfield or Northwest Arkansas Fayetteville region. At least at the date of this edit.
As far as a wait for your food, yeah, this place is busy. A testament to its taste. You’ll likely have to wait up to thirty minutes for your styrofoam boxes of takeout food to be eaten at the truck stop or at home.
This is a new truck stop, but it is definitely not a beautiful truck stop. I give the...
Read moreIt was pretty expensive, but overall I enjoyed it. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and it had the right amount of spice not overbearing, just a light burning sensation. My mother got the butter chicken, but she didn't seem to enjoy it so I also gave that a try and I also enjoyed it. Despite this being the first time I've had Indian food it had a familiarity to it that I couldn't place. The staff also seemed nice and understanding as I called 3 times before placing my order on door dash because I've never had Indian food before and needed recommendations and some clarifications and then one more time afterwards to specify how spicy I wanted the masala (I'd recommend yall to allow us to select between levels of spice on your Doordash page if at all possible). the only complaint I have is that the garlic naan we had ordered was a little overcooked. 1 of the naan was just straight up black on the bottom, the others weren't as bad, but still a little too black on the bottom and 1 of them I would call perfect so it was a little inconsistent on that front, I'm not entirely sure if that's normal for this place, maybe I just got a bad batch so take the critique with a grain of salt. And while I have no frame of reference to compare with Rasoi I enjoyed it and it makes me hope that the people in Joplin will be more accepting to have other food cultures come to town because I enjoyed trying something new...
Read moreGreat service and great food! I am shook at how many rude petty comments there are about this place, it is so amazing! The Plain Rice was tasty just by itself.
Butter Chicken (plenty of chicken pieces) is my favorite Indian food and theirs was SO GOOD! Chicken Tiki Masala (also plenty of chicken pieces) was saltier than the Butter Chicken, so it was an even better match with the Butter Naan.
This Mango Lassi is thinner than other ones I’ve had, so that delicious mango takes the spotlight over the yogurt. I loved it!
The man at the counter took about 15 minutes to prepare such a big order, which was amazing considering how good the food was. He said that the Naan maker was on the fritz and was so worried about how it looked. He apologized profusely to my spouse telling them, “I’m sorry brother, I could only make two Naan instead of three.” He then offered us something for free and even though we insisted it was okay, we were given some rice pudding. The Butter Naan both looked and tasted amazing, so rest assured good sir!
I could eat their Rice Pudding every single day and never get bored of it. It’s seasoned with spices (nutmeg and cloves I think) with some coconut and I’m in love.
I can’t wait to stop here every time I take a road trip! See you in two...
