Tucked away in the middle of nowhere, Snead’s BBQ offered an inviting escape from the hustle and bustle of KC, with a promise of hearty meals and warm hospitality in a very clean restaurant decorated in rustic charm. However, when it came to my meal itself, my experience was mixed. I ordered the rib tips, a favorite dish of mine I was eager to try. The presentation was promising, with nice big chunks of rib tips that were tender and juicy. Indeed, the meat was impressively tender, practically falling off the cartilaginous tips, and the portion size was generous. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was dampened by their seasoning. The rub used on the rib tips (or the ribs from which the tips were cut) was excessively salty, overwhelming the natural flavor of the meat. Each bite was dominated by the saltiness, which not only masked the potential succulence of the rib tips but also left me reaching for my water repeatedly. The rub's overpowering salt content made it difficult to appreciate the meat's inherent flavors, leading to a rather disappointing meal which I ended up throwing out. However, their delicious BBQ sauces were tangy, slightly sweet, rich and smoky, clearly crafted with care. They provided a much-needed balance to the overly salty rib tips, and I found myself wishing I had tried their sauces on perhaps a different cut of meat. I would be open to giving them another try, perhaps with a different menu choice, in the hopes that the rest of their offerings might live up to the high standards set by their service...
Read moreThe food here was top notch, great flavor, great sauce, i had the combo plate with brisket and turkey and fries and tater salad, and there was a heaping ton of fries that were delish, and also a ton of meat, price was pretty good for the large amount of food that you got. Kind of a hidden gem that's a bit outside town you wouldn't think of to hit first, but should be on the list.
The waitstaff was excellent, drinks were never even halfway empty, very nice and polite and friendly, and that went for all the waiters on shift, they were all very friendly and very polite to everyone in the dining room. The only complaint I have, is the owner is a real D-Bag. He gave us a dirty a$$ look when we walked in, and scanned a nearly empty dining room minus only 3 occupied tables as if he had a packed dining room. During our meal, he yelled for one of the very kind waiters to come over to the back area, and proceeded to berate him in front of where the dining room could see and hear, for literally no reason besides being a couple minutes slow on cleaning one single table that had literally, just left. The entire ordeal was disrespectful and highly inappropriate to have infront of customers. The friend we had dinner with said that's not the first time he's been witness to the owner being a total douche.
Despite that, we enjoyed our meal greatly, great food, great waitstaff, everything. Highly recommend for the food and please leave the very kind waiters and cooks a nice tip, since clearly the owner is very...
Read moreI will never visit this establishment again! KC Joes is just north of here and is great!! KC Joes has some of the best BBQ in KC and is super friendly and has a much better atmosphere!! That's where we ended up going. If I could leave a 0, I definitely would.
TL;DR - After waiting an hour, we were told we would not be served.
We had a group of 15-20 people, yes, this is a large group, but it was all older adults. However, the restaurant was not full (about 10-15 tables that were empty). At least half of the party was never greeted or asked if they wanted DRINKS!
An hour after arrival, someone from our party went to find our server so we could order (still half of us not having drinks). We were informed that the server did not want to serve us because they were "busy" (I was keeping an eye out for the server because I was actually thirsty and hardly saw them on the floor), and that if we wanted to order, we had to order at the counter and order it ToGo.
We were asked not to return. Reasoning from the staff; our party was loud, and the server was busy.
We were sat in the very back of the restaurant, and as a server myself, I've had smaller parties that were much louder.
It's crazy that a local restaurant would treat guests like this, especially on a slow night when we all came in ready to eat. We were a group from one of the closest neighborhoods. This is literally the closest restaurant to us. However, they just lost the business of a...
