A Journey Back in Time – and a New Favorite Spot in Meadview!
I first passed through Meadview, Arizona, 42 years ago as an 18-year-old traveler from Germany. Back then, the town was just a quiet outpost with a single small burger joint—a stop along the way in my youthful adventure through the American Southwest. It was a place I never forgot, a little dot on the map that represented the vastness of the desert and the freedom of the open road.
Fast forward more than four decades, and I found myself back in Meadview, this time with my partner from Canada, revisiting the past while discovering something entirely new. What a surprise to see how much the town had grown, yet still held onto its small-town charm. And at the heart of this visit was our experience at this incredible little cafe and restaurant—a true hidden gem in the middle of the desert.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed like family. The atmosphere was warm, unique, and full of character, the kind of place where you can tell that every detail has been thoughtfully curated to create a memorable dining experience. Everything was impeccably clean and inviting, which immediately set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in a long time.
I ordered the Mexican-style omelette with tortillas and hash browns, and let me tell you—it was simply amazing. Perfectly cooked eggs, rich and flavorful fillings, and hash browns that had just the right amount of crispiness. A meal that tasted homemade in the best possible way. Every bite was a reminder of why road trips are worth taking—because sometimes, you stumble upon places like this, where food is made with care and hospitality is second nature.
Our waitress was absolutely wonderful—kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. What truly stood out was how she went out of her way to make us (and our dogs!) feel welcome. Without hesitation, she brought out bacon and fresh water for our two pups, a small but incredibly thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about the level of care they put into their service.
We left feeling full, happy, and so grateful that we had stopped in. This restaurant isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to experience. If you’re passing through Meadview, make sure you take the time to stop here. Whether you’re a local or a traveler like us, you’ll be welcomed with a smile, served an excellent meal, and leave knowing you’ve found...
Read moreStumbled upon this restaurant while exploring Lake Mead Ntl Rec Area on the AZ side in Mead View. Cute country restaurant w/ almost an outdoor wrap-around covered patio/deck seating. Ate inside since it was windy. Plenty of tables. Nice paintings of mountain desert scenes on the wall. Seated immediately. Our server was efficient but not as friendly/talkative as the other servers which was a non-issue. Place was clean. Roll of paper towel on a paper towel holder on each table so customers didn't have to ask for more. They had a separate special menu for Valentine's Day that we didn't pay attention to when our order was placed. Regular menu had a variety of offerings for breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, sides, desserts, etc. Nothing fancy. A bit pricey for the area. I ordered breakfast. Our order came REALLY quick. Nice presentation. Hot & freshly-made. Good-sized portions. SO VERY YUMMY!! What a Nice Surprise! Simple dish but they got it right! I've ordered this same dish in so many restaurants around the country. I never know what it's going to look like or how it's going to taste. It's a hit or miss... Mostly a miss ... even in high-end places. But Not This Place. It was PERFECT!! Even my husband really enjoyed whatever he ordered. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're ever in the area. We'll be returning to this place whenever we're out for a Sunday drive exploring the AZ side of Lake Mead. What...
Read moreWe dined for lunch today and had a fabulous afternoon! Our server Denise was AMAZING, attentive and super sweet. My husband and I both work in the hospitality industry and were super impressed with her service. We ordered the Thai Wrap with fries, onion rings, spinach dip and two kids meals and we honestly had no complaints. Everything was cooked well and the spinach dip tasted homemade was the best we have had in a long time. We sat inside for lunch and then bought ice cream from the little store and sat outside. It's neat to watch all the ducks and there's hundreds of fish just right there on the surface to watch it was a cool experience! We will definitely go back when it gets warmer. The Boat House is a great place and be sure to ask for DENISE she will take GREAT...
