Hafner's Tavern & Liquor Store — Restaurant in Moline

By far the worst dining experience I've had in recent memory. Apparently people go there for the "great food", but I never got the chance to taste it. The drinks were awful. How a bar can screw up a margarita is beyond me. We sat there for 20 minutes before we were waited on. It took over an hour before we started to see our food. Half of our table was served, then the ONE WAITRESS FOR THE ENTIRE HOUSE OF ABOUT 30 PEOPLE brought out food for another table. I stated loud enough for her to hear that we ordered well before that table. She got an attitude and told me she can't control the order in which the cook sends out food. A more appropriate response would have been to apologize and tell me that sometimes the cook gets the order wrong, particularly when they're busy. Then when she finally brought the rest of the food to our table, she brought me the wrong meal. Not just a little wrong... A completely different meal. Said "excuse me miss this isn't what I ordered." She very rudely said "well when I asked if that's what you ordered you said yes but whatever" and grabbed the plate. Given that I ordered once and she handled many orders that night, I'm pretty sure i remembered my own order. At that point I got up and walked out. My fellow diners had their food and finished their meals.

As a sales and customer service manager, I am well-versed in the difference between good and bad customer service, and in how to handle situations like this from the establishment's perspective. Maybe they were having a bad night, because somehow this place has flourished for years. But I will never set foot in there again, and anyone who mentions this place to me will hear about this...

The atmosphere is laid back and not noisy even when full. Most places are quite loud because of the open/high ceilings. Even though that is stylish it allows for more noise. The wait staff are always friendly and make sure you have everything you need. My favorite dish is the cheeseburger basket. I think it has the best burgers in town and the coleslaw is nice and creamy not made with vinegar. The portions are plentiful and yummy. Some areas need a little updating but overall not much since you don't want to lose the old time quaint character. It's a great place to eat and not feel rushed in the process. Thanks...

Some locals rave about this place. Food is just average. The waitress is always rude to me. Anytime I ask a question she dismisses me. Never asks if we like the food. Just gets the order and that’s it… she seems a little lazy to me.

You have to tell them the tip before they run your card. Which stinks because if they don’t work to get the tip, ya still feel obligated to give them one. Annnd you have to verbally say the tip out loud to everyone at the bar 🫣💀

Small and dirty atmosphere. Lots of locals. Wouldn’t recommend for people visiting. I only go because my coworkers...
