Las Chilangas — Restaurant in Monroe Township

Wow, it was hard to believe this place hidden in the plain sight would be really as good as the reviews. But, yes, it is!! I tried calling few weeks back to place take out order as we were told it's that type of place. No one picked up so I just thought it's one of those places they don't really care for customers. Well, today we had some time and decided to go in and see how the place was. While it's nothing extraordinary inside it does have a nice vibe and is cozy and clean, so good enough. There were probably 8 tables or so, enough room to spread around. We were only customers, not sure if they had any take out orders going in. So you migt assume food can't be that good. Well, we started with chunky guac, and it was delicious! Then we all had different variations of tacos. They all come with abundance of fresh lime. The home-made corn tortillas were super tasty on their own. The tacos were full of meat which was delicious. I used the two spicy sauces they provide, one was super hot so might be too much heat for some but the other was also quite spicy but right in my realm of spiciness. Others in my group also used the leftover guac with the tacos and it all was just flowing with flavor and quality. The food here is simply amazing! Don't get duped by other places with nice looking interior or bottles of tequila, if you want real Mexican food this is the pace to be. We found our new favorite, super exciting. If you’re thinking about stopping by Las Chilangas, do it. This unassuming little spot in a strip mall is anything but ordinary. From the second we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and such welcoming vibes.The woman who took our order was absolutely wonderful and so pleasant.

We ordered the guacamole extra spicy, and she made sure we really meant it before they worked their magic. Let me tell you, it might just be the best guac we’ve ever had! So fresh, so flavorful, and the perfect amount of heat. Every bite was pure happiness. We also asked for some spicier salsa and were given a beautiful salsa verde and a hotter red salsa, both of which were fantastic. Plus, the piña agua fresca was super refreshing and delicious.

For tacos, my husband got al pastor, birria, and carnitas, and he really enjoyed every single one. The homemade corn tortillas were so good. I ordered al pastor, pollo, and camaron, and while everything was tasty, the al pastor totally stole the show. Packed with well-developed flavor in every bite.
