Since the Hungry Hut received such glowing reviews, they seem to have rested their laurels on them and let things slide, a bit.
I ordered the dinner special which was lasagna with salad and bread. My son ordered a sandwich.
It was slightly busy but the place doesn't have that many tables that 2 waitresses can't sort it out. It took a while for my salad and it was served in a soup bowl which made it rather awkward to cut up the lettuce, etc. The lasagna came and it was dry and not appealing as it had been in the past. I don't know how many hours before dinner that it had been prepared, but it was nearly cold in the center and, as I mentioned, dry. There was sliced mozzarella on the top which was the consistency of rubber. The "bread" was a slice of white bread (possibly "Italian" bread) that had been seared on the grill with the minced garlic getting burned in the process. Not appetizing, at all.
When they opened up, I was very pleased because there is a serious lack of originality in the food services in the Endless Mountains, and the Hungry Hut seemed to have filled a bit of that culinary void. They really, REALLY need to stay on top of their game and improve wherever they can to keep their clientele coming back. Serve small loaves of actual Italian bread with real butter instead of slices of Texas toast with burned garlic. Serve your salads on deep plates - generous salads, too. Do NOT use black plates because they're unpleasant, visually. Use white hotel plates, platters, and bowls.
Finally, keep at your foods - don't let the anxiety of crowds create mistakes in preparation or presentation. I'm really rooting for this place because they really do offer better food than most. Just don't let yourselves get slack because of...

Son ordered Hungry Hut Burger with fries and I had spaghetti and meatballs.
The HHBurger was outrageous! The patties appeared to be handmade and fresh.....and YUGE. The fries were better than most. Who would have thought 1000 Islands dressing would be excellent on burgers? Very, very good.
The spaghetti and meatballs were very good and the meatballswere generous. The meatballs also appeared to be handmade and not out of a bag or off of a Sysco truck. The sauce did seem to be homemade, as well.
The serving staff were terrific and BUSY!
My only complaint is the country decor and the small size of the establishment. , but the guest capacity is what it is.
Maybe another wait person would be a help, but an A #1 place - exactly what this area needed. Good...
Read moreEarly morning excellence! I called in early (5 mins before they opened) for breakfast. The women kindly took my order said 20 mins and I got there a couple mins early. Understandably they were just opening and it wouldn’t be busy, my food was ready and waiting and I paid and left. Busy day delivering and just needed something to get the day started. I am beyond happy with my food. I’ve previously been a breakfast/lunch line cook for over 20 yrs and I will do nothing less than support this restaurant!! The food was spot on. Warm, cook and crispy taters! It’s hard to ruin breakfast but it’s even harder to beat a breakfast like this! Thank you Michelle’s...
