Casa Real Mexican Bistro — Restaurant in Monroe

We waited 15 minutes before being acknowledged and finally sat. My husband wanted to leave but I insisted on trying it because the reviews were good online. The prices were reasonable and the environment was modern. That’s where the positive experience ends. Unfortunately, it took 2 hours to receive our food that was unbelievably bland. The table shared and tasted each others plates and it all tasted the same. The waitress added gratuity to our checks (party of 6 or more) because of our children (ages 3 and 1) — my 1 year old did not eat. I assume she was securing her tip. I was very disappointed with the whole experience and am baffled over the positive reviews...

This is not the usual Tex-Mex-American food you normally get around here. Much closer to authentic Mexican food. We had a pork appetizer that was great but seemed like it sat a little too long before it got to our table so it was not quite hot enough. We had 2 of their fresh fruit drinks and they were wonderful. The organic margarita is different than you are probably used to but it was very good. We had a steak wrap and the chicken Cesar salad. Both were very good. The Cesar dressing is different from Italian Ceasar dressing but is WONDERFUL!! Loved the story in the menu about the history of the dressing. You should bottle...

Let me just start out saying this is not your typical Mexican restaurant. Don’t go in expecting to eat the same kind of Mexican food you normally expect. You pay for your chips and salsa.
