Driving by this place you might never ever stop. The place is a dump outside with a capital D. Two picnic tables only that don't even match and are rickety very little parking and Rusty and decrepit things everywhere. Walk inside there's a little counter with stools to sit at and the usual scattering of menus and specials posted haphazardly all over the glass partition that separates you from the kitchen. You contemplate what you want on the menu and then you talk to Ethan. Ethan has a personality that everyone should have when dealing with the public. He is very accommodating very polite and he is a good choice for the lead man for to meet customers. He asked all the right questions of what I might want with our meal. Being a vegetarian I could only have the french fries which were very very good. My daughter and her friend had the wings. Ethan was very smart to ask if we wanted the buffalo sauce on the side to dip because it was a little bit hot. I've never seen wings like this that looks somewhat like fried chicken. The two 13 year old girls I was with ordered 10 wings. 30 minutes later they went inside and ordered another 10 wings they were that good. I live nowhere near this place but I signed up for rewards cuz I'm sure I'll be back. Even though I can probably only eat the french fries and the like because everything else is meat I know the kids and the wife and anybody else I happen to be with will absolutely love this place. If it had any decorative knick knacks instead of junk piled high along with some type of landscaping I'd rate this place five stars for roadside food. But because you feel like you're sitting in a junkyard eating I simply can't. You would think after being in business for 25 years the guy would spend a little cash on curbside appeal. So when you go plan on bringing your own chair to sit by your car and tailgates because I'm pretty sure the two picnic tables will be taken. But what a tailgate...
Read moreFood is delicious, have some unique burger ingredients. The slaw dog has great toppings too. Usually staffed by the owner himself and some high school kids that are getting some work experience. The owner, Mike, trains them well though.
Read others complain about wait times. I urge you to hear the complaints of wait times as an indicator of just how popular the food is. It’s also such a weird reason to give a small business one star. You are upset that the place is busy and other people made it there before you that day? If a dine in restaurant says they have too many reservations and you can’t get a table do you give them a bad review? When you go to a theme park the line for the most famous roller coaster might be annoying but do you tell everyone the ride was horrible afterwards? Sound like a bunch of entitled babies. As an adult who can plan ahead I call up before going on days or time of day I think it might be busier. It is the only place serving food on the lake where it’s located. Lot’s of people stop in on their way to take the boats out or fish etc in the summer. When I call ahead the staff always gives me a pretty accurate time to cook. Usually 10-15 minutes for pick up which is great because that’s how long the drive is. Noticed they implemented online ordering, I have not tried it out yet, rather go over the order on the phone personally. That’s another option though.
Long story short, if you are in the mood for burgers and dogs, you can’t go wrong with this place. Just call ahead or order online if you are going at lunch time on...
Read moreFound myself near lake Zora's Drive-In around 7:30 a.m. in the morning. My GPS was driving me all over creation, so when I saw that they were open I pulled right in. The woman behind the counter immediately engaged me in conversation as she took my order and realizing I was stressing, she recruited one of the young men from the back to give me directions to where I needed to go. At the same time she started my order of a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with a cup of coffee. They made quick work of my order. And anybody who's ever had a well made bacon egg and cheese sandwich when they're hungry knows what a slice of heaven that is. My only regret is that I didn't order a large coffee. It's so hard to get a good cup of coffee these days, I usually only order a medium assuming the coffee will be marginal at best. Next time it will definitely be a large. But the best part of stopping there was meeting the good natured, good humored people behind the counter. Friendly exchange along with the good food wiped away all traces of GPS...
