My husband and I ordered take out and when we got home the extra toast we ordered was not on our plates, the "famous coleslaw" was green and brown and also had a very bitter taste the shrimp was too spicy 🥵 and I called to let the manager know what was going on... To my surprise Mr. Skylar was very polite and offered to re-do our meal for us the next time we called... My husband and I went up there and asked him to redo the meal like he said then to my surprise he then said it was very shocking to find out that everything was wrong with our order I agreed with him and he started writing down each plate that we had ordered to take to the back to have them re-cook It he told me to give him about 20 minutes and it would be ready I then walked back in close to 45 minutes later and our order still was not ready so I walked back outside and waited he then came to my car and politely told me that it was ready when I walked in he still had a few more things to get from the back when we got home the steak that I asked to be cooked medium was quite rare so my husband called again and said that they had gotten to order wrong again he asked for us to bring the steak back to him where he then took the steak that I had taken out of the restaurant cut and taking a bite of put it back on the grill and cooked it the rest of the way then offered it back to us I was under the impression due to health department regulations that that is illegal for a restaurant to do... So I am very displeased to say that this was an awful experience and I hope that it doesn't happen...
Read moreI stopped by David's Catfish House in Monroeville, AL today for lunch. I went through the drive thru. I placed my order, paid for it, and the teller told me my order would be 20 minutes and to park in the front and someone would bring it to me. I waited for 30 minutes and no one brought my food. Maybe because it was raining? I went inside the restaurant. There was one couple eating, so the restaurant wasn't busy. I approached the counter and said, you all must have forgotten about me? She looked at me baffled. She acted oblivious. I gave my receipt to the older lady. She scrutinized my receipt as if it was a fake. I explained that the drive-thru teller told me to park in the front and she would bring my food due to a 20 minute wait, but no one came out. She didn't apologize for the inconvenience either. The younger female employee went to the back to check on my food and brought it to me a couple of minutes later. My food was not hot. It was approaching luke warm. As I was eating my fish and fried green tomatoes, I noticed that it lacked seasoning. The hushpuppies and cheese grits tasted good. However, the tiny container my cheese grits came in looked pathetic; as if for a child. I felt the price I paid, nearly $22, didn't equate to the amount of food I received. Maybe there were new employees at the drive-thru window. I don't know what the issue was. But there needs to be better team communication. You all have...
Read moreOne of the questions Google asked me about this place is "Is this a good place for seafood?" I feel like this is an unfair question to ask me. I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida and when I see or hear "seafood restaurant", I have a very specific idea of what that means. Catfish, shrimp, and oysters, while included in the fare at a seafood restaurant, do not define the restaurant specifically as a seafood restaurant.
But don't let that take away from the Southern comfort food that is offered here: chicken, burgers, catfish, shrimp, oysters, hamburger steak, ribeye steaks, among others. I ordered the chicken finger plate for lunch and my wife ordered the broiled catfish. We both got fries and hush puppies. I asked her how she liked hers and she said it was amazing. Chicken fingers are chicken fingers, right? These were lightly battered and fried and quite tender. I ordered the sweet tea, which was VERY sweet.
All in all it was an enjoyable dining experience and paired with the company of my wife's extended family, made for a...
