We planned a last minute holiday shopping trip to Kalispell. I previewed restaurants searching for a new place to experience. I always read reviews and was a little concerned about guests stating the steaks were bland without salt. You might laugh: I grabbed a baggie this morning and poured some Montreal steak seasoning before hitting the road. We shopped all day, then arrived at Spencer’s & Co. Steakhouse around 6pm on Sunday night. It was pretty dark from the road to find it. We walked in and the tables are kind of close together and not a lot of tables. Busy is a good sign. We were seated right away. The waitress took our beverage order and came with our drinks within a few minutes. We placed our order right away. Shared the rib eye steak medium cooked and ordered an extra salad and mashed potatoes. The salad came about 10 minutes later. It was really fresh, cold and crisp-great! The steak came out about 15 minutes after the salad. We split the steak and it came with toast and a side of spaghetti. We wanted to be open minded and tried the steak before adding any seasoning. It was cooked perfectly! Hot and tender, juicy. Yup! No seasoning! I got my baggie and sprinkled a few pinches of Montreal steak seasoning on mine and my husband’s steak. Tried it again and added a little more seasoning then it was perfection! The spaghetti was okay. It could use a little more spice or salt. I just ate a few bites and my husband ate the rest of the spaghetti. We shared mud pie for dessert! That was great also! Everyone was really nice. We had a relaxing time there even though it was quite busy. Thank you Spencer’s, hope you didn’t mind me bringing my own seasoning. We’ll be back sometime....
Read moreFirst time here and we entered right as they opened so that would explain the extremely prompt service, but that being said everyone after us got the same treatment, which is great to see.
The in-house blue cheese dressing is delicious and highly reccomended.
My ribeye steak was amazing and simple, just meat and whatever wood they used for the grill, so you can add whatever you like if you think it needs more spice. Personally I think it just needed a pinch of salt, which is a good thing as plenty of restaurants have over salted their steaks in my experience.
Spaghetti comes standard when you order a steak. I found it kinda odd but in a fun way. It's some and good, nothing like you'd find in an Italian restaurant, but it doesn't need to be.
The Texas toast was loaded with butter, which is how it should be.
Mud Pie was for dessert and it was nothing short of fabulous, even if you may need a chisel to get a piece off.
All around fantastic and reccomended for special...
Read moreWe went for our 33rd Anniversary this evening. Awful. NO FLAVOR ON ANYTHING EXCEPT GARLIC TOAST!!! The mash potatoes are instant (I asked the waitress). It was sad to order a nice steak and be excited for it then all you get is an unseasoned steak, instant mash potatoes, garlic bread and spaghetti (???). The side salads came with dressing in it...not on it and not on the sides but inside the salad and there's a ton of it! You couldn't see what part of the greens you were eating because the dressing covered the salad like gravy. We've been waiting for years to go to this place and it was such a disappointment. A couple of positives are the older lady that greeted us was wonderful. Very gracious and welcoming. The second was the cook on my steak was perfect. I really never leave negative reviews however this time it was so bad I felt I needed to. PLUS it was our Wedding Anniversary!!!...
