I would give a lower rating if there was one. I went here on Father's day with my wife, my daughter had chosen the place based on location, reviews and pictures on the website. She thought it would be a fitting place for our 25th anniversary dinner. We cannot fault our daughter for our experience she did her best. First red flag no reservations for Father's day dinner. We arrived and walked into the open door that appeared to be the main entrance, we stepped into the bar. We looked around and after about 5 minutes of looking and standing there, a man told us to seat ourselves wherever and then ignored us. We went to one of the 2 open tables sat down and waited 15 minutes for the waitress to give us a menu, 3rd red flag. We opted for water which we drank sparingly as we noticed no one in the place was getting refills. We knew before we decided to go we wanted the prime rib medium rare. My wife a ranchers daughter inherited his love of prime rib and his exceptional tasting abilities. We asked for the prime rib with soup and were informed there was no soup only salad, later we overheard that they never made any, on Father's day are you kidding me. We asked what kind of salad, as head lettuce disagrees with our systems, we were informed that it was just salad mix from a bag, so we declined, no other substitute was offered. No bread was offered or supplied as shown on the internet pictures. After placing our orders we waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food. When it arrived the only thing not full on cold was the dipping sauce for the meat. The twice baked potatoes were dead cold, the first bite revealed these to be unlike any I have had before, they contained just old potatoes and sweet potatoes, no seasonings no flavor no sauce or cheese no topping, and tasted like they were pulled from the garbage. Salt and pepper did not help this bowl of disappointment, my wife could only gag down 2 bites, they were dry and not fit for consumption. I was not blessed with a great sense of taste but I have developed an appreciation for good food and this was not it. Our waitress asked how the food was and I told her it was all cold and the potatoes were bad, but I had been waiting so long and was very hungry so I was going to eat it. The restaurant smelled great while we waited, so anticipation was high and disappointment was great. Most prime ribs we have had in the past were either smoked or had a nice crust this one had neither crust, nor special seasoning or much flavor mine was very tender but the flavor was average at best. The piece my wife had was not like mine it was cold cooked to medium or more and the outside edge had an unpleasant flavor as if it was stale. After I tasted my food and communicated my disappointment, the waitress was kind enough to offer a free desert to help offset the dinner. But the owner who was there talking to regulars did not come talk to us. The table behind us ordered beer with tomato juice and they waited nearly 40 minutes for someone to pop the top on 2 cans and pour them together. After ordering while waiting I got up and discovered that there is a dining room I was not informed of when we came in, patrons from that room were walking over to the bar side to get their own drinks. I guess this is not a service at that place as it is in other restaurants. Overall it was a very poor showing, poor service, bad cold food, served very slowly, no preparation for a big Father's day, not as shown on the website or as advertised by the reviews. The facilities appeared to be in process of improvement, a definite plus but the air coming in from the open front doors reaked of cigarette smoke, but I guess that is impossible to escape in Montana. I can only recommend this eatery as a good place for retired people that have smoked for many years. Retired so they have time for extended wait and long term smokers so all their taste...
Read moreMy husband and I have always made it a point to go here every time we visit family to have the prime rib. First the sign said wait to be seated.. we gave up and picked a table ( 5 people) we all placed drink orders and then our meal order. Realizing I have an accent I point directly to what I want and speak at the same time . We waited for over 30 min for beer refills. ( there was only 1 other small table in the entire place and a couple at the bar) Finally our meals started to come out, mine and my husband's was wrong so waitress took the food back.. wait wait... brought our cold french fries back out and another meal to our guest. After another wait our parents meal arrives ( they both got county fried steak) and it looked burned and lumpy gravy. Mother said it was terrible ( remind you she NEVER complains). Finaly husband and I recieve our prime rib, cold and tuff. No fries, the AuJus was brown water and browned sugar brussel sprouts ( we did not order) soaked out garlic bread. Very disappointed. And the bill was...
Read moreBeware! My husband and I were attending a wedding and last minute decided to stay at the Lakehouse. I grew up in the area and wasn’t expecting much but this has been ridiculous. It was a cold late Sept night, and we arrived at the room around 9pm(before we headed into town). We turned on the ancient old propane furnace and left. The room was warm when we left. At 2am we arrived back and it was freezing. The furnace was hissing gas but it wouldn’t ignite. Couldn’t turn it off (valves were so old) so we had to open the room up and freeze so we didn’t die from carbon monoxide. The staff was helpful but always made excuses for the owner. The owner refused my refund but after numerous phone calls she had said they were refunding me. 5 months later and many more ignored calls- no refund or communication from the owner! I recommend that not only don’t stay here, but avoid it all around! AVOID at all costs! The rooms are pigs with lipstick. Look pleasant enough but...
