I was really excited to try this place. I even went out of my way, 11 miles from the highway, to give it a try. I arrived and they hadn't opened back up for dinner quite yet, but the gift shop was open so I took a browse. Wasn't like I imagined it to be. I expected everything in the store to be home made or from their farms. They did have a good selection of things they make so there are no complaints, just dont go in thinking you will only see home made and hand made items. The man who runs the store is one of the sons of the couple that started the restaurant and he was very friendly. This is a good place to stop if you have small children who need to run and burn off some energy from sitting in a car since there is some field next to parking they are allowed to zoom around in which was very nice for my 2 little boys. The restaurant is cafeteria style. All of the employees aren't knowledgeable about pricing and had to keep asking the girl at the ticket register what stuff cost when they were asked since nothing is priced and no menus posted. Some of the food was bland. Most was good, but my stuffing was a little dry and not enough flavor as what you expect in a stuffing. The desserts were delicious. We tried coconut cream pie and pecan pie. Both were really good. It's a quiet eating atmosphere. My server kept our drinks filled which was good, but she didn't know too many answers to my questions about the differences between mennonites (which is what this community is) versus the amish so that was a little disappointing. She was young however and I remember when I was her age I wasn't informative about things I probably should have been either so it was okay. She did tell me the man at the checkout register would know answers and he sure did. He is also a son of the people who started the restaurant. He was able to explain the differences and the mennonite way of life and beliefs in an easy to understand way. He also didn't seem to mind being questioned and made the stop more of an experience than just a meal. Overall, I would stop again and plan to next time I am...

We went yesterday for the first time in several years and were shocked and dismayed at the difference in the food. While Yoder’s used to be a place to go for excellent home cooking, it now seems to be a place for warmed-up prepared foods. The meat loaf did seem to be some sort of meat, it was shaped into a loaf, it had some tomato sauce on top so it resembled meat loaf. That’s where the similarity stopped though. It was some form of mystery meat that I had to drown with ketchup to get any taste at all. I think it must have been some sort of purchased frozen product that you heat and serve. The mashed potatoes both looked and tasted like they came from a box, and the gravy was a gelatinous gooey texture. My broccoli casserole was passable but made with Velveeta or something like it. The fried okra and corn muffin were good. My husband’s fried chicken wasn’t good, his lima beans were undercooked, and his mashed potatoes were like mine. The dessert pies (cherry and apple crumble) were passable but nothing to write home about.

We got two kinds of brownies and a pecan pie to bring home. We haven’t tried the pie yet but the brownies are nothing special. I considered buying a cake but I’m glad I didn’t.

We got there at opening time, and the ladies room was nasty by the time we left.

The redeemable factors from our trip yesterday were the pretty drive from Columbus, and the wonderful people who work there, gracious, friendly, and attentive. As a restaurant, however, we left knowing that this was our last visit. That...

Local favorite but not cheap! $49.00 for lunch a 9 yr old kid 2 adults. Farmers all eat here. Grab a tray pick up what you want for salad and dessert alacarte then they serve you a choice of meats (brisket was great) and choice of sides (broccoli cheese and squash casserole were big time light on veggies BRIGHT ORANGE cheese sauce not that good) i had mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was gel type stuff not homemade and had no flavor...

No one came by to fill our drinks until we were leaving literally as we were standing to leave....

Each side was $1.95 to 2.95 it was $49.00 for a 9 yr old and 2 adults for lunch and 2 of us drank water 1 sweet tea.

Coconut pie is delicious. The bakery has all sorts of goodies you enter thru bakery. Pay as you leave they give you the receipt after you pick your meat and veggies. You pay after you eat as you leave. Used to be pay at end of the hot food bar. Avoid...

The wife and I had not been in awhile. Yoder's did not disappoint, too much. Everything was delicious, to a point. I ordered the beef brisket, it was lean and cut lean, think thick cut bacon. I felt like I was getting rationed, it may have been because they were trying to ration because it was a new item they were trying. It was smoked to perfection, you could tell it was not rushed. If they entered a thicker slice into a BBQ competition, they would win hands down. It had the smoke ring, the bark, just enough fat for insulation and seasoning, but just not enough meat. Everything else was portioned perfectly. I had the shoo fly pie, the bottom crust was soaked in molasses juice, that's a good sign of a quality homemade shoo fly pie. None of the food here seems to be from a can, and if it is they seasoning and cook it to taste like your Grandma was in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving lunch.

This hidden gem is outside of town but worth the extra couple miles to get there. They serve cafeteria style. They had a variety of home cooked food. Some of the meats they had today were chicken patty, roast beef, and the brisket. They also have country fried steak sometimes. They offered rice, mashed potatoes, cheesy potatoes, green beans, fried okra, and lots of other sides. They offer slices of a variety of pies and cakes for dessert. Though the decor is simplistic, it feels homey and there is lots of seating to accommodate large groups easily. There is also a whole room full of desserts to choose from that makes up a waiting area of sorts if there are a lot of people already in line. In addition to the restaurant, there is a separate gift shop building where you can buy hand made items.

My wife and I stopped in at this location in Montezuma ga. They have a store and bakery where you can buy home made jams, relishes, and baked goods. We bought a loaf of bread , pickles, and jam. Our dinner was very good. We both ate the roast beef , okra, creamed corn, salad, corn bread, carrots, mashed potatoes and dessert of cake and cherry pie. It is all homemade and soooo good. The service was fantastic and we will absolutely be back.
