Monticello Red Wheel — Restaurant in Monticello

Really hate to leave a bad review of a local place, but we just visited here for the first time and hate to say it was a complete waste of $40. Our food was really terrible. Really. Nearly inedible. I got a bacon & bleu cheese burger - the bun was old and dried out and crumbling, and I have never seen blue cheese look the way it did. It was so soggy? And green looking? And somehow the burger had less flavor than any burger I’ve ever had. Came with fries which were fine but totally flavorless. My husband had a Philly cheesesteak which looked a bit better, but the bun also fell apart after a few bites and he said it also had very little flavor. We each got a cup of what was supposed to be beef & veggie soup with not a single piece of beef. It looked like cans of green beans that had been stewing in beef broth for about a week. Even the pickle spears looked old. I feel terrible saying all this but we truly couldn’t eat more than a few bites, and decided to head out. The place was empty and the server was kind though, so adding an extra star for that. Maybe other menu options are better, but ours certainly weren’t good. Unfortunately we will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend...

I have never had a good experience here. Thought I would give it one more shot. The breakfast was less than desirable. The bacon was old and fried to a crisp. Asked for sausage to replace bacon. Not a lot better. Hashbrowns were fried to a crisp as well. Bisquits and gravy were good..server never once refilled my water glass or asked how we were doing. My husband and I both had stomach issues rest of day. Talked to some other customers in parking lot, who had brought up their dissatisfaction first. Oatmeal cold, had to send back food, etc. What's wrong with having a nice, family restaurant in Monticello? This is a well kept place. Can they not get a good cook and attentive servers? Will never go back and will never reccomend this...

Literally the only thing good about this place was/is the service! First time I came here to eat I had the liver and onions. The nastiest I've ever had! It looked like they boil it, it was tough and seriously almost no flavor! Decided to give them another try and ordered their lasagna. After all how can you ruin lasagna??? Welllllll they definitely did. I have no idea what the sauce was that they covered it in? Seriously every time I brought my bite to my face I smelt mold! I refuse to enter go back praying for a 3rd times a charm deal! It sucks to go somewhere starving just to leave a full dish of 💩 (can't call it food) on the table to be tossed.
