Sugar River Country Bakery — Restaurant in Monticello

We have been buying baked goods from Sugar River Country Bakery for years at the Madison farmer's market and in the bakery when passing through Monticello. We wanted a birthday cake for our three year old twins birthday party and glad we reached out to Alex to help us. She was great to meet with to talk about our idea(s) and provide great recommendations as well. She made everything very easy and when it came time to pick up the cake & cupcakes, we were thrilled. The cake was super moist and cream cheese frosting top notch. I would highly recommend to anybody looking for a great tasting, great looking cake for any event (birthday, graduation, wedding, etc.). Hi Alex - It was mid-afternoon on May 17th - I was in Monticello with my mom to see the car show and came across your bakery. I was surprised to see a bakery in a small town and had to stop in. It was great to talk to you about the bakery and how all the items are made from scratch - it takes a lot of hard work, and you and your husband should be proud of the product you produce. Some of the cookies and scones I bought were consumed for dessert that night - they were very tasty. Disappointed. Just my personal preference when it comes to using shortening and ingredients used in the pies also. Tried the macaroons and some cookies. Just doesn't seem homemade and from scratch .. seems more "commercialized" ingredient wise and taste wise. Maybe they need to cost wise.. Just another bakery to me. I like my baked...
