Oh my! I found this restaurant on Google Maps, and I have no idea what pupusas are but they look yummy in the photos and the great reviews! Since I was driving by, I am so glad I decided to stop by. The young man working there was so patient since I don't know Spanish. I ordered 6 pupusas: shrimps, bean, spinach, cheese, chicken, and a bowl of seafood soup. Everything is fresh made by his mom, who seems like such a sweet lady. I can't wait to try them... Sitting in the car with my girls waiting for the food to cook. ... I just got home, and ate the pupusas and the seafood soup. I don't like corn tortillas and the pupusas were made, I believe, with corn meal. One of my dogs loved the pupusas!! I usually buy food that she will like and I will share with her. She lives cheese, and the pupusas have cheese!! I ended up putting the pupusas in the air fryer and they tasted so much better when crunchy!! Oh my goodness!! The seafood soup is amazing!! It has salmon, shrimps, clam, mussels, crab and crawfish, and potatoes. Next time I'm going to order extra soup to take home. Which I live nearby... ~110 miles away. Oh and the cantaloupe juice was amazing!!...
Read moreI came here to hopefully get a quick meal, and it was anything but quick. I drove around the plaza next to it first trying to find the spot, but then I saw the sign for this up the street. I parked and before going inside, I saw the board listing pupusas. I decided on what I wanted and I went inside, which was really cozy with a lot of tables. One couple was in front of me, and then I ordered. I got two pupusas: one shrimp and one chicken. It cost $4.24 post-tax but I just let her keep the $5 change. I sat down and waited for my food. Five minutes passed, and then ten. Another person came in and picked up many boxes of food. I waited twenty-five minutes until I got my food. For two pupusas! That's quite unacceptable and the reason for the two stars. It's ridiculous that I had to wait there for so long. The food itself was fresh (as it should be since I waited for twenty-five minutes). The cheese was oozing out, but it wasn't flavorful. The salsa wasn't flavorful either, and the cheese wasn't quite melted or the sides weren't quite cooked in the shrimp one. Needless to say, I was quite...
Read moreA real gem. The namesake pupusas are fanatastic. My favorite are the loroco y queso - loroco being an edible flower native to Central America that resembles a cross between swiss chard and asparagus. They also have delicious baleadas (Honduran flour tortilla filled with beans, cheese, sour cream, your choice of meat). The hot sauce they serve alongside the baleadas and tamales really packs a punch (in the best way), and the pupusas are served with a generous portion of curtido (slaw).
I used to live in Central America and really missed the food. This stuff is the real deal, and without a doubt the best carry-out in Moorefield, and maybe even Hardy County, WV. Pro tip: Call in your order before you arrive. It might take them about 20 minutes, but when you show up, you'll have piping fresh pupusas right off the griddle.
Mil gracias a Emerita por llevar esta comida tan rica...
