2.5 Stars: We took our daughter and her Fiancé to lunch today for her Birthday. Let me first say that the food was GREAT… and the service was HORRIBLE! When we walked in there were only two people seated and eating. The young lady seated us and came back with water and asked did we wanted to start with any drinks or appetizers. I said yes, we would. While everyone was looking, I said I wanted a Mai Tia, then everyone else ordered their drink. She was only gone for about three minutes and came back with two of the drinks, and then returned with only one more drink. She asked if we were ready to order, and we did, I lastly and jokingly said did forget my drink and she just walked away. Another couple came in and she got the drinks and took their order and walked by our table and I stopped her and asked again about drink for the third time, and she said oh, okay and walked away. She came back to the table with two orders (without my drink), and then she came back with one other order (and still no drink or my order) and asked was there anything else that we needed. By that time, I’d had enough, and my not so nice button was pressed, and I said “Really”, how many times do I have to ask you for my drink, and she said oh, what did you order…. I said a Mai Tia when you came to the table the very first time…. This was the fourth time having to ask… She left and then brought the other couple’s order out and cleared the other table and then was just standing there talking to a guy behind the bar. Then she brought my order out. I ordered it with no mustard, and it was loaded with mustard, and I had enough. I got up and walked to the guy at the bar and asked him how long does it take to make a drink and he said I do not have an order for any drinks and she walked up behind me and I said I’ve asked her for it FIVE TIMES and she replied oh, and just walked away and I informed him the order was made wrong and it needed to be remade. Finally, he brought my drink over and said the order was being remade. She brought it over, sat it down and did not say a word and walked off… After a few minutes the manager came over and asked how everything was and we told him the food was great, but the service sucked. I could understand it if the place was packed but there were a party of two when we walked in and we had four, come on… If you can’t get something as small as a drink order right, you should not be working in that business! We will be going back again but will not have her as a server…! The manager was very nice about everything and he...

I made a reservation a full week in advance, carefully filling out all the detailed information the restaurant requested — including that we were coming to celebrate a birthday and that one guest had a serious food allergy. Not only did I enter it on their website, but I responded to multiple follow-up emails where I repeated this information, as requested.

When we arrived, we were seated — and it was immediately clear that no one had any idea about the allergy or the birthday. I was surprised, considering I had sent all the requested information directly through their system. The server had no clue what was safe to eat and casually told us it might be tough to find out because the kitchen was busy. We almost left from that answer.

She returned and reassured us that everything would be safe. But when the appetizer sampler came out, two of the items contained nuts — with zero warning. We were given false assurances, and someone in our party could’ve had a life-threatening reaction because of this blatant negligence. This wasn’t just careless — it was reckless, lazy, inexcusable, and the catalyst for this review.

It didn’t stop there. We had to remind them again that we were celebrating a birthday — the whole reason we chose this place. We ordered dessert and asked for one with a candle. They didn’t bring it. All the desserts came out at different times, 10–15 minutes apart. Flan, ice cream, churros — how is that even possible? Ice cream first of course. Total mess. No coordination, no effort. GARBAGE.

The food was just OK. Definitely not worth the 50-minute drive from Charlotte or the price tag (6 ppl 2 of which drank cokes). Our bill was $350, including a forced 20% gratuity, which I found especially hard to swallow considering the overall experience.

I got another automated follow-up email asking for feedback. I gave it to them. They said they’d look into it and get back to me. They didn’t.

If you or someone in your party has a food allergy, DO NOT eat here. You're gambling and these people don’t take your safety seriously. Whether it's apathy or incompetence, they failed every basic standard of hospitality — and in doing so, risked someone’s health. On my next trip through town I will skip Havana 33 and go the...

I went to this restaurant highly recommended by an influential food blogger. I decided this would be a great place to take my friend to celebrate father's day. The 1st issue was when attempting to set a reservation the website said there were tables available at a particular time but when finalizing it wouldn't go through. I then called the restaurant only to be told they were over booked for the evening. I said ok, I made another plan to go nextdoor to Eddie's on Lake Norman. While waiting for our table at option 2, I walked over to Havana and they only had a 10 min wait. So, the young lady that answered when I called lied about being over booked.

Next issue was the infestation of bees. Our table was greeted with about 5-6 bees. Not much fun having to duck and dodge being stung by a bee/wasp.

The service/server went missing on occasion having me to have to stop other servers and request refills and silverware and to even take our order. He was not very friendly and seemed a bit irritated and didn't want to be there.

The food took about 45mins or so to arrive at the table only for the food to be cold and the ribs to to nothing but fat slabs. There is nothing worse than biting into a fatty piece of rib. The server of course was missing so we sat at the table waiting for an additional 20-25 mins no check in no nothing before we were able to make a complaint.

This was not what I wanted for my friend on father's day to celebrate him. He is not typically a complainer, but he even said something about everything on this particular day. The server did nothing to rectify the wrong and yet we were greeted with a bill and didn't even eat. I was beyond irritated. Not even a manger came over and said they were sorry for the experience. Immediately reached out to my food blogger friend and let her know what occurred and she was mortified at the experience we had. She immediately reached out to the restaurant and was advised I should be hearing from someone with a credit...never heard from anyone! Just very unfortunate to have a great location, great band but the food, drinks and overall experience was horrible. Especially...

We anxiously awaited today's brunch reservations. We recently relocated from NJ and hadn't come across many Latin restaurants. A few weeks back their page popped up on my Facebook. Thank God it did!  Their posts were very exciting and the photos of the food looked mouthwatering. I sent a message and asked some questions. Ansel replied and was very pleasant and helpful. We decided today was the best day to make reservations for especially since it is my mother in laws birthday. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Jessica was assigned to attend to us and that she did. Very very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. For appetizers we ordered their yuca fries, masas de cerdo and their sampler plate. Holy moly it was good! We didn't want to eat it all in hopes of leaving room for our meals but it was that good. So flavourful! Our daughters both ordered there Hemingway breakfast dish and loved it. My husband ordered steak and eggs and really enjoyed it. I ordered there eggs benedict ropa vieja style and it was out of this world. The birthday girl ordered their Cuban sandwich and couldn't stop saying how good it was. They were nice enough to bring her out ice cream with a candle so we could sing her happy birthday. One of my daughters and myself also had ice cream. My other daughter ordered there churros with chocolate sauce and my husband ordered there hazelnut chocolate empanades. Man oh man we really indulged and it was sooooo worth it! We are already looking forward to going back for dinner one day soon. Thank you for the great service and amazing food!

We found this restaurant while in Mooresville and trying to find a place that wasn't a chain. It was difficult to find the door, as it is sort of hidden, but a 2nd drive around the parking lot yielded the sign. We weren't sure if we needed reservations (the website and phone message both mentioned them), but we took a chance and walked in, and were able to be seated immediately. Our server was amazing - super friendly, helped us on what to choose, and very sweet. We had the Cuban egg rolls and they were so good it's hard to even describe. The mustard dip was just the right amount of spicy and the egg rolls were delicious, like a Cuban sandwich spread in a fried wrapper! My sandwich was a perfect size, with shredded pork and onions. I added the cheese sauce, but shouldn't have as it was not on the sandwich but was on the side. It wasn't great and so I wouldn't recommend it. But the garlic aioli- holy moly, Batman! I think I could drink that and be happy . It added a great spice to the meal. The location is perfect, right on the water with gorgeous views and calm atmosphere. I would tell you to make plans right now to eat here. You won't be disappointed in anything you order. And the prices are great for the amount of food you get. Run, don't walk, to this place and taste some amazing Cuban food!
