Pulled up into a strip mall parking lot to the distinct smell of somebody using fire to cook meat. Located at the back of the parking lot situated parallel to both the mall itself and AR-9 was the very source of the smell, and Salty Dalty himself was caught red handed. The price of his offense? Why he was forced to serve me some of his wares. Today was a special day, as desserts were half price and so were the armadillo eggs. A limited time item of smoked chicken thighs rounded out my one off items to try and share (I know a few barbecue fans) and then it was on to my personal meal. I opted for the brisket plate, with my side being elote. No doubt you know how it went, because I would not be here to share if it had been bad. I got lean and fatty slices, both juicy, tender, and true to the name salty. Rich and savory turned up to a 10 any more and you would need something for balance but this simple dish could stand alone in my opinion. That said, the elote was so good I had to go back for extra. Learn from me good people, take a bite before you drive off. It will save you some gas money! Finally, food like this cannot be cooked but by someone with a good soul. I try not to judge, and no a small conversation while placing a food order is not enough to truly gauge the morality if a man. But this guy? This guy does good. Making all customers feel special seems to be a second passion for this young man. In closing, dude just show up. Bring a tenner and you can have something great, but bring a twenty and you can party. You did see the pictures from the other reviews right?...
Read moreI like to try local places when traveling, so on a run to pick up a Facebook marketplace item from Searcy. the wife and I decided this would be our lunch. BBQ was top notch. Got the sweet bbq sauce with the brisket but the flavor of the brisket didn’t even need the sauce to make it better. Creamed corn was not what I expected. Cheesy, buttery, with a slight hint of seasoning. Nothing like a can of creamed corn as I was expecting. I’m not a huge fan of potato salad but thought I’d try it. I’ll only say, I’m still not a fan. The customer in front of me really talked up the armadillo egg, so, having never had one, I had to try it. I only had a couple bites because I was full from the brisket, but the combination of bacon, sausage, jalapeno, whatever was stuffed in that, and the glaze, was like an explosion in my mouth. Overall, 11/10 will stop in on our way through the Morrilton area.
Edit to add: one thing that really stood out, though the food is pretty important, was the friendliness of the owner. Asking about your day, plans for the weekend, and taking into account your preferences for styles/cuts of meat really add to the enjoyment of the experience. You can tell he loves what he does and is striving for success in his business. If he didn’t have a line of people waiting and I didn’t have a wife and kid waiting in the car, I would have felt welcome just to hang out and...
Read moreToday was our first day trying this food truck. We will be back! The beef "dino" rib was huge! The seasoning on it was SO good. It was like a crust of deliciousness! The rib literally fell off the bone. My brisket sandwich was good as well. We got both kinds of sauce (sweet & tangy) and we loved both. The baked beans had chunks of brisket. Would have liked a little more sauce, but they are the best beans I've had in a long time so I'm not complaining. The coleslaw was vinegar based. My husband wasn't crazy about it and prefers more traditional coleslaw, but I liked it. It was different, but I like vinegary stuff so I was a fan. The owner is super friendly and gave us samples...
