I was very excited to finally try this restaurant. I was impressed by the menu, the reviews, and was really looking forward to it. I am not new to fine dining. The food was excellent, absolutely incredible in every way. The salad my mother ordered was beyond tiny, with only 3 small sprigs of greens. It could hardly be called a salad, but that is still something I could have looked past.
However, the service was about as unfriendly as it could have been. When we chose to sit inside instead of outside, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Our waiter didn't even say hello, or ask us how we were. He simply asked if we were ready to order. With each visit to our table, from several servers, I thought perhaps it would change. It didn't.
I don't mind spending money on fine food, however, the ambiance and service also needs to match the price point. In this case, it did not. I have long been saying I would love to spend a night in one of the cottages for a special occasion. I no longer wish to do so. I will continue to visit other fine dining restaurants in the area that actually seem to appreciate their customers, and don't find them to be an...
Read moreThe food was delicious, the location is beautiful but for the cost of the meal, the service left a lot to be wanted. There was clearly a table of regulars in our room and both managers were paying almost 100% attention to them. Chatting them up between each course, sending over many comped dishes and drinks, looking at pictures on their phone, all the while we were waiting for some service. We sat waiting for someone to take our check for a good 15 minutes while we sat there and watched both managers come in and out and chat with this table, bring them 3 comped desserts and their check. We tried to wave them down but they literally didn't care about anyone else except that table (mind you there are only 3 tables in this room!). The rest of the staff who were not managers were wonderful but it was just so clear that we were an afterthought. All that considered I feel almost ripped off to have spent almost $400 on this meal and won't...
Read moreI'll be honest, I hadn't heard of this place. I didn't even know there was a town called Morris in CT. Tried to get a table for Valentine's day, by they were booked out, so I thought Feb 13 works just a well and got a 7pm dinner.
Starting with the valet and coat check at the gate, the service was very professional, which set a tone for the rest of the night. We both opted for the 3 course prix-fixed menu for $99 each. The Octopus starter and Lamb pasta entree were stand outs.
They have a comprehensive wine list as well, but choice is limited if you're ordering by the glass. Between each course, the chef sent us complimentary snacks that paired really well with the meal.
After dessert, we spent a few minutes just hanging around the building and admired the restored historic house. Overall a very good experience for...
