When I go I a restaurant I want to feel welcome. What I mean by welcome is that the wait staff is trainned to be kind, courteous, and accommodating. A wait staff that behaves this way makes me believe that my patronage of their restaurant is appreciated and that I am always welcome. The wait staff at Pillar Rock Grill failed to come remotely close to the standard of professionalism and common decency. The first employee my dinner companion and I saw failed to even acknowledge our presence. She looked at us, did not bother to even utter a simple greeting. Obviously, for that employee a smile and a greeting was far out side her abilities. The woman did go and find another employee to seemingly deal with us. The next wait staff we encountered ended up being our server. She never smiled at us the entire time we were at the restaurant. She was rude another employee right in front of us. She never made any effort to be friendly, helpful, or accommodating. I found it rather amusing the our ice princess of a waitress did spend considerable time at another table where she engaged in conversation, laughed, and joked with those patrons. Personally, I have never regretting leaving a tip more. Next, the food was decent. However, the food was not of the caliber that could overcome the lack of courtesy we experienced. I will never go back to the Pillar Rock Grill and I we never recommend it to even a friend, family member,...
Read moreI visited Pillar Rock and Grill for the first time on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, the experience was somewhat marred by the uncomfortable heat inside the restaurant. It was so hot that it significantly impacted my enjoyment of the meal.
Despite the heat, the food was delicious. The fried cod and shrimp were a bit too dark fried for my liking but still tasty. The nacho fries were outstanding and generously portioned, perfect as an appetizer for four people.
However, there was a discrepancy with the pricing of the Wycliff champagne. It was listed at $3.50 per glass on the wine menu but was charged at $5 per glass on the check. While $5 is still a reasonable price, the advertised price should match what is charged.
The staff was friendly, and the service was prompt, which was a plus. However, the presence of flies inside was quite annoying.
Overall, I would consider returning to Pillar Rock and Grill if they address their air...
Read moreLate review. For the fact I was really saddened at the service offered here. I went on new years we had reservations for 2. Was sent into a corner that was suffocating, a table that wobbled, and a waitress that had no manners an was completely rude showing now interest in helping me or my now ex not once refilling our water. She had no smile the entire time we were there an it wasnt till we showed a 20$ tip to be generous that her face lit up with a smile. This is why im posting so late as not to have someone introuble. Regardless I had scallops asparagus an fried ravioli, which wasnt that amazing, the only thing that was good was the desert which was a cheesecake with a chocolate shell an a strawberry reduction. The asparagus was uncooked so much that the tip were the only part edible...
