This is my regular dine out place. For a couple reasons, the bar and the pool table, the food and the general setting. I want to say it's almost comfortable. But it's a more laid back setting but not quite comfy. Alot depends on where you sit. There are 2 dining rooms, one is where the bar is, lottery machines and pool table, it's a more bar type setting, the other room next to it divided by a wall with windows, is just a dining room with a salad bar. It has a more restaurant setting. But I've never had a problem with my food. I've not absolutely loved it but I've always left satisfied. Some nights I go for date night and spend $70-$90 for 2 people. That includes 2-3 alcoholic beverages for both me and my partner. Maybe an appetizer. Other nights I go as a family of 4 and spend $50-70, that's dinner for 2 adults and a teen and a 7 year old. The place is suitable for children even though there's a bar. The table setting page has games on the reverse side. There are high chairs for smaller children. And if you're looking for a quick game of pool, there's a pool table in the bar room, but don't expect to play during busy hours because the tables are uncomfortably close and you WILL hit someone with your pool stick if it's packed. The room can get very cramped. So if you're going to have a few games, I would highly suggest you do it during their slow hours. Makes it much more comfortable. The food is good. So far my favorite dish is the prime rib. But I also enjoy the calamari, their sweet potato fries, rueben sandwich is also good. I've been there many times and out of everything I ate, the only thing that was disappointing was the clam strips basket. Nothing about the clam strips was enjoyable. It was rubbery and tasteless and I didn't even enjoy the breading. But everything else has been atleast...
Read moreThe food was decent and service was ok.
2 adults, 6pm on Friday, our bill was about $40.
Our order was Beef ribs with Apple sauce and mashed potatoes as well as a steak special. Both orders came with the option to eat from the salad bar and we were served fresh rolls with butter. Drinks included 2 pints of beer.
I think the rolls may be homemade and they were probably the best part of our meal.
The ribs were cooked well and fell off the bone. However, they weren't seasoned and were slathered in a bland BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes and gravy were lacking good flavor and the Apple sauce was just treetop or something out of a can/jar.
My steak was ordered medium and came out very rare. It had to be returned to the kitchen to cook a bit more. It looked fantastic but was lacking any seasoning. The sides consisted of curly fries and coleslaw. The fries were standard restaurant, frozen fries. The coleslaw was too finely shredded and chopped, served very soupy, and tasted a little too strong of cabbage (like it was old cabbage).
The salad bar is okay, nothing big, but it has salad.
The initial server was a young gal, she was sweet and clearly still learning. Our waitress, however, was older. While her service was okay, she came off quite bitchy.
My biggest complaint is that they have a separate side that seems like its where families would sit and that no kids should be allowed in the bar area. We had one couple with a baby right behind us and it was distracting and annoying. As parents who were kid free for dinner, we thought we were dining in a kid free environment, as the other side was full of families. Guess we were wrong?!
We may try this place again, as it's close to where we live, and just to give it a...
Read moreTo put it short, absolutely fantastic staff with pretty average food. The server had me almost in stitches with her banter with me and my group I was eating with.
To go more into it, the meal I ordered (buffalo chopped steak) was pretty bland, to the point of convincing me it wasn't seasoned. A real shame, since I love buffalo and once seeing it on the menu, I instantly craved it. The portion was generous, just pretty tasteless. I ordered it medium, and it came back medium rare, verging on rare, which I'm not personally a fan of when it comes to ground meat dishes. The baked potato I had with it was pretty good (if not having a crispy skin, which is pretty minor of a complaint), especially when dipping it into the gravy that came with the meal.
Had onion rings as an appetizer, and as anyone who enjoys them knows, they can be hard to get right. And in general, I'd say this place nailed them. The group I was with enjoyed their meals fully, and it was overall still quite a fun time here for lunch.
I would give the food an overall three star, but overall due to the staff, I can't give it less than a four because it was just so inviting to be here. I might need to try some other items on the menu, hopefully it was a one off with my meal being under seasoned, because this is a place I would gladly come back to for the staff alone being...
