Field of Beans — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

First time, hopefully not the last.

The coffee here is outstanding! I ordered a 16oz iced Americano with a splash of cream.. It was a bit too much of a splash, and maybe I'll order a splish of cream next time (or a skosh?). Funny attempts at humor aside, the flavor and strength of the coffee is perfect and the shot seemed to be perfectly drawn.

The barista at the window was awesome! I don't recall her name but judging by her personality and warmth without being fake-nice, I'd guess all of the Field of Beans crew is similarly awesome at talking to people. She was friendly but not in an obnoxious way.. I like that she was to the point and knew what she was talking about. We gave her the order, she repeated it back, asked for clarification, and it came out perfect (even if a bit too creamy.. it's a subjective thing anyways, right? ).

I ordered a turkey and cranberry sandwich.. So thoughtful to put sprouts on there, and so tasty. I was pleasantly surprised that the sandwich came out with each half wrapped individually. I feel as though the owner is extremely conscious of customer experience and seeks out opportunities to make that experience great.. and it shows!

My only critique is would be to simplify the menu, at least the readability. While it's very clear (the actual blocky font and black/white colors), it's a bit overwhelming. Maybe have a 'quick pick' menu of some type.. I only wanted a 16oz Americano and a sandwich. But this small critique is so minor and silly, I know.

Overall this is the coffee stand that every coffee stand should strive to emulate. There's only one other stand I've ever been to that compares in coffee taste, but they don't have the amazing sandwiches like Field of Beans. This is a great little hidden gem of a coffee stand. I go here sometimes in the afternoon and order an iced mocha, sometimes a treat. The baristas are very efficient and I like that they quickly write down the order ~ that way they don't forget those important details (like my precious whipped cream 😆)! They usually have 2 people working, which makes it even more efficient. I rarely have to wait in line, but when I do, the line goes quickly. It's a great location and easily accessible. Honestly… one of if not THE BEST tasting and quality breakfasts made to order anywhere around these parts!!! Her egg salad is crazy authentic and delicious. The fresh sprouts, perfectly ripe avocados, juicy tomatoes, pickles, bagels/bread… EVERY SINGLE ingredient is and has always been super fresh, consistent, high quality and affordable!
