How does this place stay open under the lie of “farm to fork”?! The fried food was good. That’s where the positive comments end. The prices are middle of the road. The service was less than ideal. No refills. No butter after asking. No one ever checked back on us after dropping off food. The waitress was kind but inept. The mashed potatoes were lousy. Probably from a box and not even good ones at that, no butter milk, salt, or pepper. The burger was bland and poorly pattied. The corn bread was more like corn pancakes without butter or sweetness. The fries were obviously from a store although not bad for store bought. The chicken tenders were good but some ranch, honey mustard, ketchup, bbq, or hot sauce would’ve helped except the waitress wouldn’t have brought it even if she came back and asked which she didn’t. The grilled cheese was store bought white bread and Kraft singles but not bad. The hot dog wasn’t all beef. The green beans may have been from the farm because they were string beans that no one strung when they were snapped. They were also without any seasoning. I spent $70 including the generous tip for 2 adults a 5 year old girl and 6 year old boy then had to make the kids food when we got home because there was no chance they were gonna eat that “corn bread” and stringy beans. I really was duped and expected a small farm community to work together to provide a meal of locally produced cuisine. I was even excited to think they’d have a limited menu since they produce it all at their farm. I’m a sucker and...
Read moreService was excellent! Clean tables and nice atmosphere. Food was served quickly. Didn't have apps for more than a few minutes before the entrees were brought out but maybe that's how the regulars like it. Cool decor from the area like high school pictures and sports jerseys.
I wanted to love the food especially since there aren't many local choices. I got the catfish plate with fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The best way to describe it is kind of bland tasting. Not bad.. just not something I would want to eat again. I'm guessing the customer base prefers unseasoned food or slightly seasoned. The sauces for the fried onion petals and catfish were good though so that did help the flavor. The coleslaw was sweet which threw me off but maybe that is a local taste. The pie slices ( I tried chocolate and coconut) were again not bad just not great but a good sized serving. The portions of food were also a decent size too.
The prices werent too bad. For 2 apps, 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and 2 pie slices.. it was around $60 plus a tip.
I wish I could have liked this place more and I really tried to because I want to support local businesses. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing ( I did get the special though so I thought that would be the...
Read more( visit during covid ) We were driving through and this popped up on google maps as a nearby restaurant so we decided to give it a try. It's an easy detour from I-75 exit 59, or if you're traveling US 150 or US25, and well worth the stop. We went inside to use the restrooms and to let them know we wanted to sit outside. Their inside tables were spaced out, and others had plastic barrier walls between them. Several tables on their covered porch! We sat outside. All the staff we met were wearing masks, and super friendly and attentive! Our order was taken quickly, and served fresh and hot. The fried green tomatoes were a treat-! Hand breaded and delicious. Im a picky cole slaw eater, and their's passed the test ( served the right way with lots of club crackers! ) I wish I'd had the time or room left to have tried dessert! But its only 45 min from our house, so we plan to visit again, and so should you!! Oh..we visited on a Friday..they have a catfish special on Fridays. Im not a fan of catfish but saw it being served, it was a heaping helping with hushpuppies and sides! Small family owned restaurants like this deserve more recognition! It was fast, friendly, inexpensive, and most...
