Read moreI don’t typically take the time to write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my fantastic experience at Allred’s. To start, our reservation was at 8:45, and we took the gondola from the town of Telluride up to the restaurant. It was a very unique, romantic experience for my wife and I to ride the gondola up in the dark. Then the door to Allred’s awaits immediately when you step off the gondola. The reception staff was very warm and inviting and made sure to follow the proper protocols in regards to Covid. We then took the elevator up to the restaurant, and I was very pleased with the classy, romantic ambiance (I’m a very picky person when It comes to ambiance). We were seated in the bar area at a nice table facing a window overlooking the lights below. While waiting for the som to stop by I walked over to the bar to chat with the bartender (his name escapes me, but he is an African American gentleman) and order a martini exactly as I like it. It is hard to express how delighted I was with his demeanor and ability to exhibit first class service and professionalism. He is truly exceptional at his craft. When I returned to the table the som stopped by to share the wine list and her insights. The vast options on the wine list, and the som’s knowledge were unbelievable. I inquired about their cellar and her 100% involvement and was truly amazed by her knowledge of her craft. Our server continued the theme with his professionalism and knowledge of the menu. The set three course menu had many intriguing options to choose from, and I was pleased with the staff’s willingness to allow me to change things up and add an extra first course omitting the dessert for myself. I had the carpaccio, beet salad, and ribeye. They were delicious, and the ribeye was a perfect medium rare as I ordered. This was a truly exceptional dining experience, and I could not have been happier. I dined at several other restaurants while in Telluride including Cosmo, and none of them are in the same realm as Allred’s. I will remember this experience for many years to come and will definitely be back next time I’m in Telluride. Please do yourself a favor and dine with them...
Read moreMy first impression of Allred's was at the host stand, where we encountered a not so friendly hostess. I hate starting my review this way, but it had me worried about how the rest of the evening would go. We arrived a little before our reservation time and wanted to check in with her to let her know we would be going to the bar to order a couple of drinks while we wait for the table/rest of the party to arrive. We were part of a larger party, but only a few of us had arrived at this point and she kept insisting we can't go to the bar because we won't fit- despite repeatedly telling her it was just a few of us, not the entire dinner party. If she had just listened I think we could have gotten on the same page, but she was persistent and unfriendly. Thankfully we were quickly sat and our server helped us order a few bottles of wine.
After that encounter, the rest of our experience at Allred's was great for our family. To start, they accommodated our large party of 19 with ease- split between two tables. I was personally dining with two young children and the server did a great job helping with expediting the 3 year old's plate so that she could start eating before the first course was served to the adults.
The waitstaff was very knowledgeable on dietary allergens and helped me navigate ordering my meal GF (celiac). I had read other reviews on the Find Me Gluten Free app that they used to offer gluten free bread, but I was not offered any. I would love to see that option come back because it felt like I had lots of second course options, but sat empty handed during much of the beginning of the meal as bread was passed around.
The dinner was wonderful- almost everyone at the table ordered some form of meat and enjoyed it. I ordered the filet with scallops and it was cooked to perfection. And the view of the mountains was...
