I recently had the pleasure of visiting Hillview Coffee in Portersville, PA, and it instantly became one of my favorite spots! This top-notch coffee shop is HUGE, rustic, and incredibly spacious—perfect for getting work done or hosting a casual meeting. The gorgeous wood decor exudes cozy, cowboy ranch vibes that make you feel right at home. Situated in the scenic rural area of Portersville, the location offers stunning views both inside and out. The large windows allow natural light to flood in, enhancing the warm and inviting atmosphere. The coffee was exceptional—expertly brewed and absolutely delicious. Plus, the solid Wi-Fi connection made it easy to stay productive. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding a personal touch to the overall experience. Whether you’re passing through on your way to or from New Castle, Slippery Rock, Ellwood City, or just exploring the area, Hillview Coffee is definitely worth the stop. I highly recommend giving it a visit—you won’t be disappointed!

This is now going to be my happy place and book reading sanctuary, and it is absolutely worth the 15 mile drive from where I live! The interior is gorgeous and the outdoor farmland views are so soothing. Inside is SUPER cozy, and outside seating lets you enjoy some sunshine and fresh air with roosters crowing in the distance. The coffee was wonderful, and to my amazement: they have an assortment of housemade gluten-free baked goods! That is such a rarity in the region. I had their GF almond biscotti and it was absolutely incredible!..but please don't buy them all- leave a few for me ☺️. Not sure if she was the owner, but the woman I met and who made my latte was super nice. I felt really welcomed, and I look forward to being a regular at Hillview now that I've relocated to PA! ❤️☕️ (oh, and it's a great pitstop on the way to get some hiking in not too far away!)

☕ The café looks really nice with a lot of interesting menu options 📖. 🍦 The ice cream tastes good- not too sweet 🍩 We tried the donut with ice cream in the middle, and honestly, the price felt unreasonable 😕 for the small portion we received. 💸 The pricing and logic didn’t make sense. Even though the staff explained it’s the “required amount” of ice cream for the donut, there should still be a sense of fairness in how things are sold. ⚖️ A good business should be honest and balanced — caring about both profit and customer satisfaction. It shouldn’t feel like customers are being taken advantage of 🙁. 🌟 That said, the service, atmosphere, and taste were all great! I do want to return every time we went to Moraine state park — but I hope there’s more transparency and fairness in pricing. * by the way staffs are nice, service is good too *

I came in for a coffee at 3:30 on my way home from work knowing that the shop closes at 4. Now let me start off by saying, I have worked at a coffee shop and other concession jobs in the past and I understand the feeling of a customer coming in 30 minutes before close when I am getting everything cleaned up. However, It is the barista’s job to work the counter from open to close even if that means staying after hours to wash a few dishes. When I walked in, I told the girl working that I’m not planning on staying in the lounge and apologized for coming close to close, because again, I get it. She was rude when taking my order, and rude to the other girl working, and It felt like I was being rushed and wasn’t wanted there. I’m not one to complain I completely understand workers making a mistake or showing that they had a bad day, but today I felt like I needed to write a review as having good customer service is so important, and quite frankly, pretty easy. Not to mention, the coffee tasted the water and I ended up throwing it away. Hopefully the coffee tastes better when the workers actually take...

The shop is nice. The service is pretty bad honestly, but maybe it’s just because they’re new and no one has been trained yet.

They only do one shot in the iced lattes, so it’s just a glass of iced milk more or less. They also don’t seem to soak the tapioca pearls first so those are hard and dry in the middle.

I haven’t tried anything else (besides a “croffle” which was melted by the time we got it since they made it right away and then served a long line of customers before finishing the order) so there are probably better items on the menu.

I was really excited for this place to open. It’s disappointing so far, but I’m hopeful they can turn it around. This area could really use a nice independent coffee shop.

Editing to add a response here: You don’t start at five stars and get your rating “knocked down.” You earn five stars by becoming a five star business, not by blaming customers for honest reviews. I’m hoping it was a high school intern who wrote that and...
