Great little German Restaurant downtown Muenster, TX. They have a nice little salad bar with all the German fixings. I had the JAGER SCHNITZEL which is a sautéed pork cutlet breaded with bread crumbs and topped with mushroom gravy. You could cut the tenderized pork without a knife. My husband had the WIENER SCHNITZEL which is a sautéed pork cutlet breaded with bread crumbs, it’s exactly like the JAGER SCHNITZEL but without the mushroom gravy. We each had a side of German potato salad and it comes with either a side of Sauerkraut or pickled red cabbage. We both chose Sauerkraut which complimented our pork cutlets quite well. Not only is it the best German food this side of Texas, their rolls are amazing and they have a dessert bar in which all desserts are homemade daily! I chose the cherry cream pie and my husband chose his favorite, coconut cream pie. Even the crusts were homemade! Both were delicious. Our waitress Nancy was a joy to talk with while we dined. We will definitely make another stop in to dine here!!

Rohmer’s was part of an impromptu birthday weekend for my husband. He has a fondness for German food and I thought Muenster and Rohmer’s would be worth the trip. I had the grilled Rueben which was a great combo of flavors. I thought about getting no sauerkraut because I am not a huge fan, but this sauerkraut was really good. Glad that I left the sandwich alone. Very happy with my selection. My husband had the sausage and schnitzel plate, with Jager schnitzel and a bratwurst. He said that it was very tasty and I was sure that he wouldn’t finish it all, but he did (red cabbage and all). The staff was so friendly and attentive and we greatly appreciated that. It really set the tone for a great rest of the day in that area. Thanks Rohmer’s!

Passing through, I saw the restaurant sign that said, German cooking, so I parked and went in. Everyone there was very warm and welcoming, like I've been there before and they knew me. My server was very sweet and it solidified the family atmosphere. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with German potatoes, and a German sausage link. My plate came promptly but very fresh. Everything was great! The potatoes were delicious, the schnitzel had a perfectly crisp exterior and chicken was tender inside. The sausage was absolutely incredible with the German mustard. Wonderful place! The desserts looks pretty tempting but sadly, I had to go. "Liebe geht durch den Magen," which means love goes through the stomach and you felt it here.

Took my wife to this place on our way back from Dallas, thinking we'd get a little taste of Germany. Not only am I 100% German but I'm also a chef by trade. My downfall is that I'm a huge critic simply based on my cooking experience and my own expectations...

Cons about this place / menu :

Restaurant decor is hideous and outdated, that includes the seating as well Platic cover for the pissoir in the mens bathroom has moss growing on it and is discolored at the part that's submerged in the water, that should tell you how old it is. Probably has been in it since the day they opened the doors The menu pages in the plastic cover are discolored and full of stains from spilled liquids The menu itself is outdated Salad bar is comprised of items that last for several days without the need for a daily replacement, I.e. Carrots, peas, pickles etc. Could not find and fresh leaf lettuce at all unless I was supposed to eat the all around decoration Mustard bottle that we received (plastic with screw on nozzle) looked like it was at least 10+ years old and discolored

Food

Outdated, far from authentic and under seasoned Wiener Schnitzel is traditionally being served with fries, a side salad and a wedge of lemon on the meat and NOT with either sauerkraut, red cabbage or pan fries. American fries are traditionally called FRENCH FRIES. No brown gravy available at all, unlike every Good German restaurant keeps on hand, because Germans love their gravy, or sauce as we call it The remainder of the menu is about as mediocre as you'd expect at any fast food joint Schnitzel in 2 different variations and Bratwurst is the ONLY German type food on this menu

Pros

Schnitzel is pan fried, not deep fried Bratwurst is decent in taste and its overall consistency

Overall

Don't call yourself a German restaurant just because you have 2 items on the menu that just remotely represent Seems great to folks who don't know or have experienced better Would NOT...

I was really excited about this place! I lived in Germany for many years and when I heard there was an authentic German restaurant, I couldn't wait to try it!

Boy was I disappointed. You walk in and it's got a cafeteria mixed with western appeal.

Our waitress was more interested in talking with the town mayor then serving us. When she finally did come over she was not very pleasant.

My husband ordered the pork sausage w/German potato salad and sauerkraut.

I ordered the weiner schnitzel w/German potato salad and red cabbage.

When the food came out it did not look appealing. The German potato salad looked like old mashed potatoes, and tasted like they had mashed sauerkraut into them. Neither of us could eat them.

I asked for German fried potatoes in place of the potato salad. It was a pile of bland fried potatoes when brought out.

The sausage was very good.

The schnitzel was disappointing. It was bland, and not prepared the way that I am used to from a schnitzel haus.

I know this review may seem harsh, and the only reason I am being so critical is because they claim to be authentic German, yet less than a quarter of their menu actually offers a very limited...

We stopped here on the way through town. Great food. Friendly staff. Great service.

I don't like mustard. But they have this homemade german mustard that i do like. The only mustard in this world I will eat. My wife had the ruban sandwich with it on it that i tasted. Excellent sandwich. But I had the chicken fried steak with baked potato. Also a very good plate. I put some of the German mustard on the baked potato. I asked if i could buy some of the mustard to take home. They brought out a big take home cup with a lid and i put it in the ice chest to take with us on our trip.

We even did something we don't normally do after a meal. We splurged and ordered dessert. They had my favorite pecan pie. My daughter had their german chocolate cake. She doesn't normally care for German chocolate cake because she never had one made by someone that knows how to make it right. She loved it.

If you're traveling through Meunster Tx. Stop here to eat. You won't be disappointed unless something is wrong with...
