I've always been a cheerleader for local owned places. And I've walked through the doors here many times. But today, I was passing through town on an errand for work, didn't have time to wait,so I called an order in. I arrived and entered. I waited several minutes while a conversation was going on between the workers, no acknowledgement that I was there. I looked at the menu and saw the cost of my plate was $12.40, so I was going to add a tea because they have really good tea. When the guy came up and said my order was $15.40, I asked why $3 higher than the price on the menu. He said the extra $3 was tax and built in gratuity but if I was paying cash it would be less. I told him I was paying cash. He didn't give me a cash price. I gave him $16, got back a dollar and my food and I left, without ordering tea. I was furious! Why do I pay gratuity when NO ONE waited on me. It's like the drive thru people who have tip jars. Wait staff who take your order, bring you drinks, food, napkins, you know--wait on you, provide a service to earn gratuity--Not pickup or drive thru orders. Still furious, I called and asked why I paid gratuity on an order I entered your building, waited, and carried to my car. There was no service performed. The answer changed to it being an automatic thing the computer adds for phone orders. This did not satisfy me. So, if I can't sit and wait on it but call ahead, I get penalized?? Kinda like the old saying that the ER charges you $200 just to walk through the doors. Not happy with Big Daddy's anymore. There ARE plenty of BBQ places to not deal with being nickel and dimed. On top of all that, it was pointed out to me that there are signs all over informing of the charge. I then pointed out that signs are not visible on the phone; but I stood there looking at the wall, the lake life living rack, the menu, waiting to be acknowledged and never saw a sign about...
Read moreThe drinks were watered down and so was the bbq sauce not to mention there were several dead bugs in the closed widow seal most were belly up and tottaly disgusting where it showed the cleanliness of the restaurant. I had sat down to eat my rib lunch and was texting my friend sitting there and even took a video to show her as one walked right up to my food. I felt kinda sick to my stomach at this point but thought oh well the ribs are hard and I will take the rest home to my friends dogs still trying to be nice about the issue. However I wasn't okay with the shedded up BBQ meat in a to go bag sitting on the same table where I was eating and the ones were crawling across the table on the bag as well. I had purchased the salad for my lunch the next day. My thoughts as I started to leave was how can you see dead bugs in brown shreds of meat like this so I asked for a refund or exchange just for the $10 salad only still trying to be super nice and polite about things. I went back inside to show the staff where they also saw live bugs crawling on the table and the dead bugs in the window ledge. They called the owner and told the girls over the phone no exchange (where something was at least baked killing anything alive) or a refund at all. I had already taken a video and several pictures to show a friend through text messaging while eating. My entire meal was $30 and I was only able to eat one rib after seeing the live bugs as I became sick! I kindly just asked for a refund on the untouched $10 salad and gave it back to them and told them fine I will just call the heath department. In a angered tone they shouted...
Read moreThis place needs a visit from a health inspector.. The air vents were covered in filth/mold/dust which was getting blow onto the ceiling. Imagine how much of that is blowing into the area on the other side where they prep the food!
I ordered the smoked chicken, slaw & onion rings; It was not very good. Tasted as if it was smoked the day before, then reheated in an over that morning. The meat was cold close to the bone. After seeing the vents with all that nasty on them, I couldn't stomach more than a couple bits of anything ordered. I could only imagine if that's what it looks like in the areas visible to a customer, how much worse is the areas I couldn't see. Amount of Onion Rings was minimal, and they were still dripping grease on the plate. The batter was falling off, which is usually a sign of old oil was used to fry them. The slaw was just a wet mess, and smelled weird..
I sat outside on the wooden picnic benches, after about 5min I was swarmed with flys.
Ended up trashing everything, didn't eat more than a couple bits of the chicken.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, except maybe a worse enemy.. they might end up with...
