Tasty Bakery — Restaurant in Murrysville

I’ll begin this review by saying that Andy and I are big dessert people. My husband was actually a baker for years in Pittsburgh so choosing the best possible tasting wedding cake was important to him. While Andy was naturally fixated on the flavor of the cake, I had something very particular in mind for the design. I found a picture on Pinterest of a three tiered white cake with white wafer paper almost floating in a way off the cake in ripple figures. I had never seen anything like it before in my life and I knew as soon as I did that I needed to have that cake. Andy was on board with the design as long as he approved of the taste. I had been following many Pittsburgh bakeries on social media and so we set up tastings at all the popular bakeries that probably come to mind to other Pittsburgh residents. Two bakeries did not impress us in flavor and another bakery did not make us feel confident that they could accomplish the look we wanted. We decided to make the trip out to Tasty Bakery for an in person cake tasting. Amanda was so kind to us during our tasting and seeing their portfolio made me feel confident that they were capable of nailing the design. Just look at our wedding cake! We could not have asked for anything more! We chose an almond flavored cake filled with strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries and buttercream icing. Tasty Bakery also baked the top tier in vanilla for those with nut allergies. They also have an option to order your wedding cake in a top tier shape for your one year anniversary instead of freezing the top tier (which Andy as a baker was very against). There were never any doubts in execution, taste, or delivery with Tasty Bakery. Beverly and Amanda were wonderful to work with and their portfolio of cakes is incredible. I cannot wait to support them again with fun themed birthday cakes...

Cake Tasting was definitely such a fun part of wedding planning! We tried out 5 local bakeries in the Pittsburgh area- I was born for that day! lol However, Tasty Bakery was by far our number one choice. We had so much fun at the cake tasting and each cake pairing we tried was delicious! My husband and I were able to proceed with the tasting alone that way we could share our thoughts and ideas, then when we were finished, Amanda sat with us and gave us the run down of all the information and pricing. She was very nice and easy to chat with. Leading up to the wedding, she was very helpful with picking a design and cake stand.

We ended up choosing almond batter and raspberry filling for our wedding cake. Omg it was SOOOOOOOO good (I legit can’t wait for our 1 year anniversary to eat it again). AS we all know, not everyone eats cake at a wedding but we received a crazy amount of compliments on how delicious it was.

Our venue accidentally tossed out our top tier due to us forgetting to take it that next day and then unfortunately an audit. Tasty Bakery was so sweet with helping us order/picking up another one with all of the freezer instructions.

If you go with Tasty Bakery for your special occasion, you won’t be disappointed!!! 😋

We chose Tasty Bakery for our wedding because we wanted a baker that could make gluten-free cake. During the planning process, Beverly was very responsive and was willing to try flavor combinations that were not listed on the menu. So many of her fillings and cakes were absolutely delicious- so much so that we ended up going with five different flavor combinations!! On the wedding day, we were thrilled with the design (and taste) of our cake! The cake looked absolutely beautiful- the perfect combination of warm and modern, accented with stunning florals. The gluten-free chocolate was so good the guests couldn't even tell it was gluten-free. Tasty Bakery also supplied the cupcakes for the rehearsal dinner and those were a major crowd pleaser too. Her buttercream is so light and just the perfect level of sweetness. Her fillings also can't be beat! We can't more highly recommend going with Beverly and Tasty Bakery for...
