Upon arrival we noticed the air conditioning was not working or turned back on, and we had dressed for an upscale restaurant experience based on prior reviews and the cost of the food online. I had a long-sleeved seersucker white shirt with slacks, and sweated through the entire meal. Our sever was Ivana. My Wife ordered the surf and turf combo for $39.99 which included a 3-4 oz lobster tail and a 6 oz strip steak and one side(she order a baked potato but received boiled potatoes instead). She also got 1 biscuit(think a large red lobster style biscuit) which was underdone. I ordered the combo as well with Calamari(with too sweet marinara sauce, and which was overly chewy and mediocre quality) and crawfish. I asked my server how the crawfish were prepared, and she said fried. I got one side of rice pilaf(which tasted slightly better than cardboard) and one underdone biscuit. I also ordered the lobster bisque for $13.99 and which looked like a generous sized bowl on the menu photo and which turned out to be a small cup of average, over-priced bisque with NOT A SINGLE PIECE of lobster in it…for $13.99. When our meals arrived, my wife did not complain that her potatoes were prepared incorrectly. My meal was supposed to be fried calamari and fried crawfish. Instead I got a soup cup sized portion of calamari with overly sweet marinara sauce, and BOILED crawfish. I was wearing an expensive white seersucker dress shirt and explained that I ordered the fried crawfish and which is why I asked HOW it was prepared before I ordered. I decided to try the boiled crawfish initially after she brought me a plastic bib and plastic gloves which cause me to sweat even MORE profusely with the plastic bib and gloves. After fighting with 2 boiled crawfish which were the size of my pinkie finger(I estimate I was given maybe 10 total in another soup cup) I decided I could not and would not eat the remaining crawfish as I’d be starving from lack of protein due to the small portion size. I called our server Ivana over and asked to change my crawfish which were prepared incorrectly from what I had ordered and change them to a broiled lobster tail(3-4 oz) for another up charge to bring my total to $39.99. About 5 minutes later our server Ivana returned with the manager Esteban to whom I explained that what was served was NOT what I had been told by my server would be fried crawfish and instead got boiled crawfish, and wanted to change my order. Esteban then processed to ARGUE with me that “I have never heard of fried crawfish” to which I responded “you are WRONG” and that I’ve had fried crawfish dozens of times in other restaurants. He then asked what I wanted, and I stated a broiled lobster tail like my wife had. He said there would be an up charge and which I agreed to. While waiting for the tiny lobster tail, I ate the tasteless rice pilaf to which I poured my wife’s remaining melted butter over to give it some taste. Our meal was WAY OVERPRICED for the portion sizes, and quality of food and service, not to mention the manager Esteban inappropriately arguing with me. When we finished the bill was $129.00 with tip. We could have had a MUCH BETTER dining experience at almost any other seafood restaurant....
Read moreSam was our server! I don’t usually write reviews or go on and on about a single meal, but I absolutely have to talk about how much I enjoyed the shrimp and flounder from Lobster House in Myrtle Beach, SC. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the most satisfying seafood meals I’ve had in years — maybe ever.
From the moment the plate hit the table, I could tell it was going to be special. The presentation was simple but appealing: golden, lightly breaded flounder fillets next to a generous pile of shrimp, both fried to perfection, crisp on the outside yet tender and juicy inside. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. It smelled fresh — like the ocean but in the best, most inviting way. You could tell they weren’t cutting corners with frozen seafood or overused oil.
Let’s start with the flounder: flaky, moist, and just the right amount of seasoning to let the flavor of the fish shine through. It wasn’t overly salty or drowned in batter — the breading was thin and perfectly crisp, allowing the delicate texture of the fish to really stand out. Every bite melted in my mouth, and I honestly could’ve eaten twice as much.
Now the shrimp — wow. Plump, juicy, and bursting with flavor. There’s a difference between good fried shrimp and great fried shrimp, and this was absolutely the latter. The seasoning was spot on — a touch of garlic, a hint of something smoky (paprika maybe?), and just enough salt to enhance but not overpower. Each bite had that perfect snap when you bite into it, which told me they were incredibly fresh.
Even the sides held up — the hush puppies were golden and slightly sweet, and the coleslaw was cold, crisp, and refreshingly tangy, which balanced the fried main course really well. The tartar sauce was clearly house-made too, creamy with a bit of tang and texture, not that overly processed stuff you get at chain restaurants. You could tell care went into every single component of the plate.
But beyond just the food, the atmosphere at Lobster House added to the experience. It had that classic coastal charm — casual and comfortable but still with an air of pride in what they serve. The service was friendly, not rushed, and our server actually seemed happy to recommend the shrimp and flounder combo. I’m so glad I took the recommendation.
I left feeling full, satisfied, and honestly a little nostalgic — it reminded me of the kind of seafood I used to have on vacations as a kid, back when quality and freshness came first. It’s rare to find a place that delivers both top-notch seafood and a welcoming atmosphere, but Lobster House nailed it.
If you’re ever in Myrtle Beach and love seafood, do not miss this place. And if the shrimp and flounder are on the menu — trust me, that’s the...

Hubby had the stuffed lobster $39, son had the "Pick 2" basket at $17.99 with fried chicken strips and calamari--was huge, with big servings of hush puppies, fries coleslaw and chicken tasted home breaded and calamari was nicely battered). I had the $19.99 triple with steak, flounder and grilled shrimp (is better than their scampi) and broccoli as the side. Broccoli was perfectly steamed, tender but still green. Everything was perfectly cooked. (SEE PHOTOS)
May 2021 The Lobster House Restaurant is a cheerful red rambling cottage style building with cute fishing village style decor. The landscaping is nice and flowers on the veranda added some brightness. Loved the interior decor. Has painted wall scenes of dolphins, boats and seagulls. Good value for decent seafood and steak choices. Service and quality was above par, especially considering Bike Rally Week, gasoline shortage, labor shortages, and the tail end of Covid restrictions going on. This restaurant did not miss a beat, despite these challenges.
Sarah was our wait person and was very attentive, even though tables were near filled by the time we left. The $19.99 trio comes with one side and you pick three of around 10 choices of fish or one steak as main courses. And, several of the choices are baked, sautéed or scampi style, for the heath conscious who avoid fried foods. I had baked flounder, shrimp scampi and crab cake and all were very good. Cost $1 to upgrade the side to a garden salad. The remoulade sauce that comes with the crab was exceptional. Their house balsamic salad dressing had a basil or tarragon tang that really raised it to another level.
Hubby had the $25 twin lobster tails, came with 2 sides: he received about total 6 ounces of lobster, not bad. His side of corn was a whole cob and he said tasted very fresh. Dinner included biscuit squares with honey butter. I am not a fan of biscuits but these were fluffy, fresh baked, and have a nice brown top and come with honey butter.
Blink and you will miss th Early Bird specials--ends at 4pm??? We saw an ad for half price appetizers from 3 to 5 pm. Next time we will show up a little earlier as the appetizer choices looked yummy. Good job,...
