Millie's — Restaurant in Nantucket

My boyfriend and I decided to go to Millie’s yesterday before we took some pictures at the beach, it was our last day on the island. We arrived at Millie’s around 1:30 and waited at hostess stand outside. The hostess helped a family before us and then walked away without a word to us. We waited so long that the woman behind us went inside and we heard someone tell her, “no you need to see the hostess outside to be seated” the hostess returned a few moments later. She barely made eye contact with us before she asked how many. We asked for a table for two, she took our number and a name and that’s it. So we looked at her and asked about how long it would be she said “I don’t know 15 minutes maybe but you can sit up there and order at the bar if you want.” SO RUDE. She was young, maybe late teens? but the hostess is the patrons first experience with a restaurant and we were already off to a terrible start. We were confused by the comment so we made our way to an outside deck and found a free table. My boyfriend went inside to try and order at the bar where there was only one bartender. Took him about 15 min to order. The food came out quickly and was very good. Some what expensive but most of the food on the island is. That was the ONLY redeeming quality about this place, the food. The entire staff seemed miserable and it was only early afternoon! We even saw a table of 4 sat near us who ended up leaving after 15 minutes because their waitress never greeted them. I went to use the restroom and it was trashed. Disgusting. Paper towels every where and even a sanitary napkin on the ground. Maybe get take out? But wouldn’t recommend...

Millys has all the sea vibes with a tex mex flair. I ate both dinner and lunch here, both a sit down and take out experience. Much like the remainder of the island, while this place was busy, the servers and staff did an excellent job keeping things moving and getting my rather large party served with food and cocktails. The staff was very friendly and answered all questions without hesitation. The food was phenomenal. I had the Bartlett quesadilla both visits and I would certainly get it if I ever get to visit again. My husband was a huge fan of the steak quesadilla, because he’s not a huge seafood person. The remainder of our party got seafood dishes, which they loved. The sour cream had been flavored with lemon - it was something so simple but it completely changed the flavor palate. I’m not sure how handicap friendly this place would be in poor weather, but in good weather, there was patio seating, a bar on the first floor with some table seating, and a second floor with an abundance of table seating. We got to sit near a window and had a beautiful view of the ocean as we enjoyed dinner. The day we ordered take out, I walked to the take out counter, placed my order, and had my food in less than ten minutes. I tried to order our food online beforehand but was unable to make any changes to the dishes that way (my husband has an onion allergy). The counter clerk told me the changes were no problem. 2023 update: restaurant do quick flips - sit eat next . Food this season of 2023 tasted better than than last year. Definitely some delicious options. Staff is friendly and moves fast. There is no change in the menu. Salads are delicious, and tacos are good. Mexican corn for the win. Tuna poke bow was great. Mix feelings about Millies this summer 2021. It's the only one spot to dine at Madaket (still the only one). It's worth the long bike ride or drive just to see the sunset. Now Millies is just a regular spot at the end of the island. Since last year, they have had many sitting areas inside and out. Kids and dog friendly.The menu is the same as years ago. Great choice of salads, taco, and saved with rice , quessadilla, and sandwiches. Price is overall fine for Nantucket. Drinks are ok. The kid' menu is just perfect. Food is coming out really quick - that is great. You can be quickly in and out. Now, what i did not like looked like they did not have enough worker/ staff . We saw our waitress only 2 times to take the order and collect the money. We had to ask different staff to assist us .There are plenty of tables but nobody can clean them ...
