White Maid Diner & Bar — Restaurant in Napoleon

If it was a busy day with lots of customers, I could have overlooked a mistake like this!

On Saturday, Sept 14th, 2024. Stopped in with my family to eat after fishing all day. 2 young ladys were at the counter, they just finished ringing up some customers which then left. We were now the only customers in the restaurant, my wife, son, and myself. We placed our order, 2 chicken baskets, a walleye basket, and 2 medium ice cream cones. We had planned on dining in and the ice cream to go, so we sat down. 5 or so minutes later, 2 gentlemen walk in and sit down, several minutes after that, one of the young ladys comes over and takes their order. After a bit, they get their food 2 burgers and fries. We still don't have our food yet. I wait about another 5 minutes or so, then I go ask the you ladys why we haven't received our food yet. They looked all confused and started asking each other questions and looking for our ticket. Come to find out, they never put our order in. Now I need our order to go because we have already been waiting 30 minutes since we ordered. So our food finally comes and we have to take our ice cream at the same time, which means we had to eat it first before our meal as it was melting on our way to our vehicle. The girls not once realized that out of the 2 set of customers they had in the restaurant that the ones who odered last got their food first or that we hadn't even gotten our food at all. Loved the restaurant next to the grain silos near the train tracks that were a big driver for the town. Bicycling across country, I can't always arrive at my destination as planned, especially on the Northern Plain, where wind can be a big wildcard. So arriving after breakfast ends (10 AM) after savouring pancakes and ham while battling the wind for four hours was a bummer. However, I looked up at the board and decided to go for the special as it was cheese bread concoction I had never encountered. Well, it was YESTERDAY'S special. So my third choice was the 3 piece cod basket, which was great. The wait staff all appeared to be high school students. They have steady, fast WiFi, friendly service, great desserts and beer, and decent food, all at a good price. A tall Blue Moon was only $4. I tried chili fries (good), chicken burger (meh), and a sundae (delicious, and only $2.50). Beer tasted fresh. Staff was friendly.
