Eight. Eight IPAs. Not a bad one in the bunch. Every person is different, as far as tastes go... so the advantage here is about 30 different brews, ciders and seltzer from which to choose! The ambiance blends industrial and artistic in a way I truly enjoyed and was glad to spend several hours on the chill! And that is the only downside... the space inside is open but can get a tad noisy, and I always wish for more comfortable seating when I'm in a place I literally want to be for hours... but, in all... I'll be back again and again!
Update 12/26/2022 This has become our go-to place to bring guests and just to enjoy good beer. We live 30 min away, but the trip is worth it every time. I have even joined their mug club. I wanted to tell a quick story from this evening: A server, Rachel, was on break. She had been on her feet for hours on a very busy day. She was eating her late lunch, when she saw that a line was forming at the other counter (the one she was not working). She could have ignored it. She could have just gone to get someone else. But she took the food orders for about a dozen people. I love seeing these kinds of things. Do business with people you would want working with you is a guiding principle of mine. The response of this young woman says a lot about the culture here, and what to expect. I am upgrading my rating to 5 stars. I just don't see it getting any better, especially not locally.
Update Oct 2023: Join the mug club. It has been nearly a year now, and for me, I have begun blocking off the last Tuesday of the month. There is just something fun about getting $1 mugs of beer that is good. Not just the value, but the sense of belonging. Something to look forward to for me, my one day of the month where I sit outside, let my hair down and have as many beers as I want (someone else drives, of course). It is like an investment in my...
Read moreI've been coming to the TailGate location on Charlotte since your first year of opening. I've enjoyed it as a regular over the years and have hosted birthdays there on numerous occasions in the past. Sadly, a few things have gone away and prices have continued to creep but we have tried to overlook those things because of the nostalgia we have for your business. However, today you surprised me. You're really charging $3.00 to get parmesan and red pepper flakes on the side with the $100 food/drink order I made today? Your employee said it was no longer complimentary but I could get back in the line to pay for it while the food gets cold. Excuse was that this new policy reduces waste and that the parmesan is fresh. You're not a fine dining experience and even at those you don't typically incur an extra charge for a "fresh" garnish/seasoning. Why not put a shaker on the table of each to "reduce your waste" and still offer it? Seriously? I think you're the only pizza/beer spot on the planet that charges an extra for this.
I initially laughed at your employee because I thought she was joking. I politely shared my disappointment and she was clearly not going to correct my situation and make it right without getting back in line to pay for it. She then stated that it was a ridiculous decision by the owner/manager and that she believes business has been lost because of it. She can now be certain business has been lost. I won't be back. She encouraged me to leave this review as I walked away shocked and disappointed so here you go. Thanks for treating my family and our friends so poorly today after all these years.
In response to your comment: Itâs not the price but the principle. Youâve allowed the price creep to go way too far. Sadly, our group wonât be back to see if your fresh Parmesan and red pepper flake garnish are worth the...
Read moreUpdate: While we have loved supporting tailgate over the years, I donât know that we will be back. We went with our family and friends last night for half price pizza night. Understanding it was the night before thanksgiving of course we were expecting a crowd but remembered from last year that the barn was heated through the winter we felt comfortable showing up and expecting there to be plenty of space. But unfortunately they had not yet enclosed the barn and turned on the heat! As a business to advertise an extra mug club night, half price pizza, and night before holiday when most people donât want to cook and then not check the weather to see it was going to freeze overnight is just wrong! Then to top it off they have started nickel and diming for âfresh parmesanâ and red pepper flakes on top of their already high pizza prices. Really?!?! I love how this brewery supports their employees and that is how we have justified the high prices thus far but this is just getting ridiculous. I donât want fresh Parmesan, I want the powdered stuff like every other pizza place. I have never, in all my travels around the country and world have seen a place charge for red pepper flakes. Honestly it just feels like a money grab considering even with pizza being half price we spend at least $100 for a family of four every time we visit. I hope the management will review this decision. Maybe offer the upgrade for those who want fresh basil and freshly grated cheese but also have shakers out for those who just want normal pizza stuff.
Great beer selection, awesome pizza, and a great family atmosphere. My husband and I are always looking for somewhere out to grab a good beer while our kids can play and we have found it at Tailgate. The area by the barn is wonderful and there are board games inside if it is cold out....
