Lakewood Inn Restaurant — Restaurant in Natchitoches

I was looking forward to dining at Lakewood after not visiting for seven years. This time, I was excited to bring my family along as we were celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing, with the best part being the time spent with my family rather than the meal itself.

We arrived at 6:20 PM, but our food didn't arrive until 8:20 PM. The service was severely lacking, which was evident from the start. They were out of boiled shrimp, and later, there was a mix-up with our orders, further delaying our meal. By the time our food finally arrived, I requested it be packed in to-go boxes due to the extended wait.

Our server, who seemed to be the only one working, handed us our food and apologized for the delay, adding that a tip had already been included. Unfortunately, the food itself was far from satisfactory. My party remarked that the fish tasted as if it had been reheated in a microwave, and the shrimp was extremely unappetizing. The only positive feedback was that the steak was decent.

My husband enjoyed the catfish but the sweet potato fries were limp and soggy. The hushpuppies were way to large and raw in the middle. I had the fried duck tenderloins and baked potato. The potatoe was Luke warm and the texture was like it had been reheated in the microwave. The duck looked good but it had absolutely no flavor at all. They only brought cocktail sauce as a dipping sauce although on the appetizer menu it would have been served with a dipping sauce. It would be much better if I would have some remolaud sauce. We would have brought this to the attention of our waitress but aftet she sat our food down she didn't come back until we were done and my husband asked for a to go box for his left over fish. We saw her outside smoking when we drove up and then she disappeared until we were almost done and after we went to the front to pay we saw her again back out smoking. Nothing against smokers but 3 times in an hour and 20 minutes when you are on the clock.... come on. She reeked of smoked. Probably won't be making the drive back to eat...

Don't waste your time with this restaurant. The food is all frozen and then not edible after attempts of cooking. It is not a seafood restaurant as advertised - nothing is fresh or original. I had the stuffed crab that was served frozen in the middle. Onion rings were barely crispy and the onions were raw. The salad bar is minimal and lacking. The 'twice baked potatoes' were mashed potatoes combined with cubed potatoes, sour cream and cheese that was served in boats made of foil; again they were not heated through and the cheese on top was not melted or browned.
