First off, pay attention to the fact that the address on the website, and the address to Google are different. When you pull up, the current signage on the outside ONLY says "The Lounge" and does not say anything about Catfish Lake right now. They have been permanently relocated so I hope they get their sign changed and website updated soon.
Anyway, the food was good. My husband and I of course both had prime rib, and boy, were we satisfied with this experience unlike the underwhelming food we've had at a few previous places.
Their salad bar is okay, but slightly disappointing. It's clear they used a standard bagged salad version instead of cutting up lettuce fresh. There was sadly no croutons or bacon bits, and some of the lettuce was a little brown.
Their fried cauliflower bites were decent, but I think the batter may need some sort of seasoning added to it because it seemed a bit bland.
Our prime was excellent. Tender and juicy with lots of flavor and seasonings. My husband thinks he may have gotten an end peice but was more than happy with that because of the level of flavor. Their au jus may be one of the best we have ever had. Bold flavor and plenty of it. So many places give you such a tiny amount.
Their mashed potatoes left the "mashed" part to be desired. The menu described them as smooth and creamy, but they more resembled a baked potato that had been smushed once with a potato masher and then clumped into a bowl with gravy poured on top. Too chunky for my personal preference and almost no flavor.
My husband got one of their "Famous Fish" al a carte options as well and said for them to surprise him on the part. I guess you get a choice of rib peice or tail peice. He was given a rib and tried it and said it was just "okay" but wasnt wowed by it and kind of wondered why they were "famous" for it.
All in all, a nice choice and their prices were quite reasonable in comparison to many non-chain steakhouses, as their 18 oz King Cut was 28.95 here, whereas we've gotten less meat for more money and been disappointed in the past, especially at Jerichos.
Thanks for the experience, and the little adventure trying to...
Read moreI don't know, we went on a Monday which is often a slow day for restaurants, but it seems to be struggling in the new location.
The old location was out in the middle of nowhere, yet on any given evening they did a nice dinner crowd, often getting fairly crowded. The 'new' location used to be a local diner/bar in a small community just a few miles south, its clientele were a burgers and beer crowd, emphasis on the beer.
Sad to say, rather than bringing the dining crowd down with them, the burgers & beer crowd has adapted to the change in ownership. While we were there last night I'd say that they accounted for more than three quarters of the crowd.
As a result, the quality of the food seems to have suffered. I ordered their 'Husker Chops' which used to be generously cut. What I got was not the same. The sides were corn and mashed potatoes with gravy. The mashed potatoes were the real deal, the gravy was good, but the corn was pretty sad. My girlfriend had the same thought about the corn as well. Her order was a roast beef sandwich, with mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as the corn. Her sandwich was okay, and her potatoes and gravy were good in her estimation.
We'll give them another couple of months to catch their stride, see if it returns to a pleasant dining spot or stays more of a local diner and bar. Last night's experience was not what we had become accustomed to in the decade or so if going to the old location however, and barring significant improvements we won't be going here very...
Read moreThis review has nothing to do with the food because it was excellent. That being said service was the worst I’ve ever had from any restaurant ever. Started off bad when I asked about a kids menu the waitress (and I use that word lightly) told us they don’t have one posted, I then informed her there was one on the website, she argued with me about it I let it go. We ordered our drinks, that took 15 min for 2 waters a Sierra Mist a bud light and milk. Then waited another 15 min for her to even take our order for food. All the while she was wondering around like she was lost. While waiting on food another waitress came up and asked if I would like another beer I said yes. Our original waitress came over and asked if I wanted another beer I told her the other lady was on top of it needless to say both beers came, and the original waitress gave me attitude like I asked her for it. “Well I guess this ones on the house as she slammed it on the table and it spilled some. After food came out none of which she delivered herself she walked up and asked if everything was ok while she walked away and we couldn’t answer. Then we asked for boxes and check I waited 20 min while watching her wonder around lost again, before I walked up to the bar to complain. The other staff was great and so was the food I’ll go back but if she is working I will definitely ask to not be sat in her section...... did I mention worst...
