This place has tanked! It would appear the proverbial writing is on the wall for what was once an up-and-coming brew pub whose sister concept began in Lincoln and expanded into Omaha. At one point these establishments were the pinnacle of service; now, just consider yourself an inconvenience…
My family of 4 (Wife, two kids, and I) walked in about 6:40 PM tonight. The hostesses were absent, but then one came around the corner whilst chewing a bite of food to greet us. Despise the restaurant being more than 60% empty (I’ll concede it is a Monday night) we were told it would be 5-10 minutes for a table. We were provided 4 adult menus, and had to ask for kids’ menus (my kids are quite obviously young enough not to be eating adult meals). This set the server off for the remainder of the meal.
Orders were straight forward, with exception of the cup of beer cheese soup ‘out first’ that never came out at all, and the order of fries that didn’t get dropped until after it came up missing with the delivery of our other food. The 25 minute wait for some of our food felt like a long time. The server was pleasant, apologetic and offered to bring the soup out anyway, free of charge. I declined.
The food had obviously been oddly plated judging by the ‘skin’ that had formed on the sauces and room temperature beans and mashed potatoes. I can also say with confidence, that their fryer was not up to temp owing to the ‘ultra-soft-fried’ chicken fried chicken and the Ore Ida french fries that are totally different than what is supposed to be served (see photo)—their fries used to be a family favorite. When we asked if there had been a permanent product change, first we were told they were the same, and when the server realized we knew that they were, in fact different, owned up to having run out of their normal product. They were kind enough to remove the undercooked substitutions from our bill. The kids’ med-well burger was hard and grey, and was plated with the same flaccid, unseasoned fries.
Servers were stuck bussing the 10 or so tables it seemed that they each had while the two hostesses and to-go person hung out obliviously loafing around empty-handed and directionless. There was no sign of any management during our $70.00, 75-minute dining experience. Honorable mention to the dirty ‘clean’ plates on the table setting I noticed on the way out.
Finally, as much as I’d like to say this was the one and only poor experience I’ve had here…unfortunately this is the third or fourth of this caliber and we will not be going back. The establishment is wholly mismanaged. Take your hard earned money and your hungry family...
Read moreI had heard such good things about Lazlo's so we decided to try it last night. When we arrived we got seated at our table and everything was going great. Our waitress(Madisyn) came around and got us all drinks and took our order. Our drinks and appetizers came out fairly quick, and actually weren't half bad. I have high standards for food, but my fiance and her friends seemed to enjoy the appetizer. Unfortunately this is where the good service stopped. At this point I had started to run out of water, and I looked around and a couple others had too. I knew our food would be coming out soon so I was just going to wait until our waitress came back...except she never did. Our food was brought out by who I would assume was kitchen staff. He was nice, and brought us more water, but our waitress was still nowhere to be found. At the other restaurants I had been where the kitchen staff deliver food, the wait-staff would usually check in on you shortly after delivering food. Ours never did. I ended getting the Salmon with Wild rice and homemade applesauce. Perhaps the kitchen was short staffed because this was the worst salmon I had ever had. It was very obviously a frozen salmon that tasted like it was over-processed and cooked way to hot too fast. I am not normally one to waste food, but I could not even make it half-way through. I looked around the table and 4/6 of our group also had issues with their food leading to over half of their meal being left at the table. Our waitress? Still nowhere to be found. Our table was now cluttered with plates as the appetizer/salad plates still had not been picked up. Water glasses were empty, and we hadn't seen Madisyn since she took our order over 30 mins ago. We finally flagged down another waiter and asked him to send our waitress over. When she returned, we asked for the checks. This is where another catastrophe begins, she was unable to split our checks up correctly between us 6. It took three times of her going back to the register to fix our checks and they still were not correct. After our cards had been swiped and incorrectly charged, we finally asked for a manager to ring us up. Sad to say, I had very high hopes for Lazlo's, but it missed the bar on everything. I will not be returning to this location anytime soon and I would not recommend it to...
Read moreWhen my family of 5 arrived it was sunday night- the host stand was chaos. The person at the front asked how many we had and when I told her 5 she said, "And you didn't call ahead?" Like we should have known to since we just got into town and the place was adjacent to our hotel- I'm assuming she just worded it poorly but still. We were seated by one person, another took our beverage order and then another came to take our food order but since it was less than a minute later we weren't ready so she said she would put in an order of beer bread... and then came back and told us she wasn't actually our server as the person who took our beverages actually was, but neither one of them knew that. Long story short we never recieved the bread and when I inquired about it or server told us "just for next time I need to ask for it ahead of time." This was the second time that someone assumed I should know the protocol to somewhere I have never been. Food wise, My daughter's ribs were REALLY good, the shaved roast beef for my son was meh since he didn't want the gravy on it so it was warm at best, my wife's french dip was decent, my youngest was satisfied with his pb&j but my Bacon Guacamole Hamburger was the worst hamburger I have ever had in my life. It was cooked WELL WELL WELL done, charred to a crisp and wasn't even in depth across... one side was an inch thick and the other was 1/2 inch. I'm not sure if the patties are supposed to be round or square because ths was neither. The flavor and moisture had been cooked out of it and the guacamole was lacking in depth, texture and the flavor one would associate beyond sliced avocados which might be okay but the cheese slice was so small there was nothing to bind it together with the heaping pile of shaved lettuce... which was nice texturally but that was the only good thing about the burger.. yep... the thinly shaved lettuce on an unevenly dry burnt...
