Matty's Bar & Grille — Restaurant in New Berlin

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Matty's Bar and Grille, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Our server, Madelyn, truly stood out and made our evening even more enjoyable.

As a Lift driver I have picked up and dropped off many people at Matty's. I finally took the opportunity to go myself. For a Sunday brunch - BEFORE Easter.

The dining area we were in was open and bright. We were seated close to the back door which is accessible in cold weather even though it opens directly into the dining room from outside. So we were kind of cold as the wind hit us every time that door opened. The tables were very small and the chairs did not feel sturdy at all.

The service was wonderful. Our server was prompt and friendly. Absolutely love the running of cards right at the table. She was always keeping an eye on us, but was never intrusive.

The food was okay. Nothing special, but certainly not bad. I got the Brisket Skillet. There was an overall lack of flavor. Like not even seasoned with salt and pepper before cooking the eggs or potatoes. The menu description included that it had cheese sauce on it. Nope. No cheese at all. The brisket itself was quite delicious though. After taking the leftovers home, I was able to bring it to life with some cheese and seasoning on the reheat. maybe they're just not a "brunch place." Or maybe they had an off day.

Original review: Arrived around 8:30pm on the Friday after Valentine's Day. We were seated quickly in the dining room, which has a door directly to the outside which kept sticking open, allowing cold air to flood into the room. Patrons had to keep getting up to close the door as people left. It was so chilly my wife ate her dinner with her coat on. Not a great experience.

Our meals were very good (clam chowder was excellent) but it took too long to get our drink samples and order our beverages.

7/19/2025 update: We stopped by their outdoor concert venue on a Saturday night. The place was packed with people and the vibe was great. They have ample seating and offer a self-serve bar that is operated using a card that is connected to your bar tab. For quick closure of your tab, you can deposit your card into a slot with pre-set tips (0%, 5%, 10%, etc.). The outdoor venue has a convenient ordering station for hot foods. The only negative was that we were sitting just to the right of the stage and couldn't hear the vocals and some of the instruments.
