Jade East Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in New Boston

For years Jade East won community choice awards and has long been a staple of the community’s dining choices, but it seems as though they have lost their luster.

We stopped in the today after a bit of shopping since they didn’t appear to be too busy and seated ourselves at the direction of the cashier. We must have just missed the lunch rush as several of the tables hadn’t been bussed yet, but both booth and table style seating was available. After about 10 minutes our waitress came to take our drink orders and quickly returned with them and took our order. After that two other couples came in and we must have fallen off the radar. After 35 minutes we received our order, but empty glasses were not refilled or extra plates removed. This might seem trivial but the tables are a bit cramped with 9 plates (we only needed 3), glasses, and serving dish covers. But hey, it’s not the end of the world.

My food was good. However my dining companion’s food was not: the orange chicken. Aside from being cold it was a far cry from the menu’s description. A better description might have been, “Microwaved chicken cutlet covered with an entire can of Mandarin oranges in syrup.” If you’d like to try it just buy some nuggets from McDonalds, put them in the fridge for 30 minutes, while doing so open up an $0.89 can of mandarin oranges, remove nuggets from the fridge and dunk them in the can. It was bad. So bad that she wanted to send them back and order something else. In 10 years she’s never even suggested the idea, and thinking the worst of having them make something else after complaining the thought was quickly disregarded. On a positive note our German Shepherd loves orange chicken.

Overall the place appeared clean and for the most part the food was good. The service was slow but if you’re with a lively group the time will seem faster; if you’re in a rush it will seem like forever. If you need something you’ll have to speak up. If you’re expecting it to be the best Asian food in the area you missed that bus...

Traveling through town with family and nephew wanted Chinese. We stopped in around 3:30 and the place was deserted. At first we were skeptical but decided maybe it was the time of day and gave it a shot. We didn't regret it. Had the shrimp toast for app and we each tried an eggrole. Everything was good. For the entree they brought rice bowls on empty plates. Then they brought out the entree. This worked great. We could plate our own meals and had plenty to share so we each got a taste. The waitress was polite and helpful in making suggestions. Everything was deliciously fresh and quite pleasing to the eye. If I had any negative it was that the spicy dishes were a little bland for my taste. Also make sure to get the sauce on the bottom of the serving dish. It's so fresh that it may not soak into the meats and veggies like the typical...

The BEST Chinese food in the Tr-State area. Everything is fixed fresh when you order it and they are very accommodating on leaving out certain ingredients you might not like. We feel we are very fortunate to live within driving distance of this restaurant for a sit down meal, with very good service or get our favorite take out. Jade East is the oldest Chinese restaurant in our area and I hope it never closes, because I would never eat out Chinese again. I have tried other Chinese restaurants in our area that have a food bar and none even compared to Jade East. Plus when eating from a food bar other customers could have touched or sneezed on the food and the food is not always fresh. At Jade East our food has ALWAYS been fresh!! Jade has the BEST hot tea I have ever tasted and the best egg rolls ever.
