I went to dinner on 4/2 a party of 6 adults and 1 toddler. We arrived with a reservation at 5 and the place was pretty dead. Our waitress was Steph D and it was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had to eat in many years.
Upon being seated, despite us being her only table, Steph initially engaged us, grabbed our drink orders and from there, we only received service when she decided it was worth her time to stop back over.
A 4 top was seated 30 mins after us, and tended to promptly and frequently. In the time it took us to get an $8 kids Mac and Cheese which blatantly looked and tasted like Kraft Mac and cheese and 2 apps, the 4 tops had their full meal, including their toddlers, drinks from the bar and were just about finished.
The main issue observed was the fact that a table with guaranteed 20% gratuity was neglected while tables without her guaranteed gratuity were well tended to.
After being there for 2 1/2 hours we requested two checks. We could not get Steph back over to actually take the money, so one check was cashed with the bartender. For the other half of the check, we noticed that Steph charged us individually by the lb, instead of the total amount of lbs, which was ordered as 1 total amount of lbs initially.
When I got up to seek the hostess for help regarding our poor service, Steph was quick to try and intercept the check. I questioned her overcharging the table, to which I was given an excuse that doesn’t coincide with us being charged as a table of 7, nor how we ordered. She finally took the charges to the manager who fixed the amount, but then failed to return us our itemized check.
While I have no issue paying a 20% tip in general when eating out as a rule of thumb, no matter the party size, when service is great, this scenario being required to tip 20% on a $300 food bill, with little to no service is maddening. I understand making it mandatory for a “large” party, as this can be a lot of work for the server, however, this clearly gives your staffing the mindset that they can prioritize their tables without a guaranteed tip, accordingly and neglect their guaranteed tip payers.
Next time we want crabs, we will not be driving in from...
Read moreWhen we walked in, we had to hunt down a waitress because apparently they don't have a hostess. The waitress I approached replied that she could be our hostess but that we couldn't order the all you can eat crabs because it closed in 15 minutes (never mind that it was 830 and the sign clearly says crabs served until 9pm). That's ok - I wasnt ordering all you can eat anyways although it is interesting to note that many other tables were still getting served their first round of crabs long after our food was served. We sit down and order - a dozen raw oysters, an original steam pot and the gumbo special- about $65 worth of food. The oysters were awful. A few appeared rotten by smell, they were barely shucked with shell pieces throughout, and the presentation was just gross. We ate three of the dozen. Then our meals came out and the problems continued- the steam pot was missing two items: 4oz lobster and crab cluster. The waitress said "oh, he isn't going to like this" before she took the plate with her. She returned soon after stating the lobster was in the over (I honestly believe she meant microwave oven) and the cook didn't tell her. The lobster was dry, crab was salty, clams and mussels over-cooked and the shrimp were mushy. The best part of my meal was the baked potato. It was a pricey potato. The gumbo "special" was even worse. Although advertised there was no sausage and no flavor. The rice was hard and the dish seemed to be thrown together as if they forgot it was on the menu. It should have been clear to our waitress that the meal was problematic but she didn't bring it up and we just wanted to get out of there. I was wrong in ignoring the poor reviews of past customers. Don't make the same mistake we did. Unless you want to risk a visit on the all you can eat crabs, I would skip this place and drive down the road to Taqueria Moreleon for great,...
Read moreIf it wasn’t for Ang the bartender I would personally never come back here! Manager( you know who you are) isn’t person enough to have honest discussion or to be honest at all with a person applying for work. Not to mention an amazing person with experience and work history, just so happens to be a person with mild disabilities. Wow, and how did you acquire a management position with these types of people skills of shall I say lack there of. Discrimination is real and it’s hurtful. I hope this helps and spreads some awareness.
Since you would like to go there you unprofessional discriminatory person!!! I was there when you told my friend that you or Shawn would be calling her to bring her in on a Saturday or Sunday!!! She never heard from either one of you! You did not speak to her discreetly, it was right at the bar in front of other patrons after you avoided her, like you did the 3 other times we were there. I think that day you told her you had to go feed some “squirrels” you rescued. Give me a break. None the less. She never did receive the phone call from you or Shawn. Matter of fact she ended up calling the restaurant a week or so later, was placed on hold for over 20 min and then hung up on. Real professional. Fast forward to last Wednesday, you avoided her again, and then we had a message relayed from another employee stating you had no intentions on hiring her in the first place. She’s a big girl, honest is the best policy. And fyi, I’m her advocate, not. companion, the only dog in this equation would be you. And as her advocate and life advisor, I only advise her to recognize the signs of discrimination in people like yourself and establishments like you claim to run with honesty and integrity. Peace out...
