Altona Supper Club — Restaurant in New Holstein

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Came with a group of 6 on a Monday evening and the restaurant was dead. The waiter refused to seat us anywhere except the first table right next to the buffet and receptionist. We asked if we could sit at any other table (there was a larger table at the back or put 2 tables together) and were told no, you can only sit here. We asked to speak with a manager and 2 party members started to put 2 tables together. The manager came out rudely shouting “No! No!” at us, but did let us sit at a table towards the back (which also happened to be dirty). Our original waiter and the manager were incredibly rude and unprofessional. They then proceeded to stand outside the kitchen to complain about us. They talked so loudly that I and other members of our party could hear every single word they said about us while we were at the buffet. They knew exactly what they were doing because they were looking right at me. It was so bad that a waitress came by and asked them to keep their voices down. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully by staff before. I didn’t want the buffet, but didn’t feel comfortable ordering anything from the kitchen given how we were treated in the dining room. Eat anywhere...

Went there for mothers day and Thanksgiving. Both experiences were sub par. There is both are both buffet and menu options but niether are very good. On mother's day I ordered a sandwich from the menu, the bread was soggy, there was pickle juice all over the plate. Wait staff was pretty short but they were busy so bit of a pass. Thanksgiving I had the buffet which is extremely limited, and the food is completely tasteless, it takes a lot of salt to be edible. Also, they were serving some leftovers from breakfast, which i thought was weird and gross being that it was probly in that hot hold for several hours. The space really isn't set up very ergonomically, Getting to and from the buffet is difficult, The desserts are just on a card table, uncovered, by the front door. And that table further restricts traffic making it even harder to get to. The bar area is nice but the dining room atmosphere is incredibly boring. I will not be going...

First, I wish people would refrain from negative reviews during Covid and short staffing, lack of available food items etc...

That said, WOWOWOW! Ate here last night, got twin lobster tails ! Came with potatoes, I chose twice baked, hubby got the seafood buffet. The BEST flavorful potato EVER. Even the fried chicken must be marinated before frying, the actual meat was loaded with flavor and tender! The coconut shrimp, as good as it gets. The salad bar leaves nothing to be desired, fresh eggs, grated cheese, somehow even the cottage cheese tasted better:)

The prices are EXCELLENT for everything you get including the lobster prices. They're smart, they buy in mass bulk, refusing to run out of anything, if possible. The staff and owners are SUPER, super nice and accommodating. It's about a 45 minute drive for us, but that's ok. I actually can't...
