A-Bear's Diner — Restaurant in New Iberia

I will start off by saying that most of their food is delicious. I spent nearly 3 months in New Iberia a few years ago, and ate here nearly every day. They have THE BEST hamburgers anywhere, and they have been consistent through the years since I first discovered this place. I drive 20+ miles one way when I get a craving for their burgers. This leads into my ultimately poor review. If a restaurant closes at 8 pm, then their dining room should close at 8 pm as well. Not this place. If you don't arrive by 7 pm, you are not getting inside. Tonight we arrived at 6:52 pm (and yes I know we were cutting it close, but things happen that are sometimes out of your control), and were met with a closed dining room. An employee slid the order window open and said, "We close the dining room at 7, and it's 6:52", so I said "Ok" and turned around and got back in my car with my family of 4 to go spend my money elsewhere. This is not the first time this has happened, and when we have gotten inside around this time, the negative attitudes of the workers are on full display. Glaring looks and intentionally rude remarks have been made, both by the owner as well as staff. The food is pretty good. I just think they are under staffed. This one waitress was taking our orders, & said, "Oh my phone is ringing." She then rushed over to her phone, as she was walking away she yelled, " What you need to a friend at our table, then, yelled to confirm the order, by repeating her order across the room. I could understand if she was busy, but there was only one other couple there. She was rushing everything. I know they get phone orders, but the phone could have waited. She was the only one working and it's pretty much, always one person running the show, without help. There's more I could say....The service stinks. Needless to say, I have never gone back there, it was like time Warp back to the 80s...I hope too visit there again and see at least 2 people working without the stress. Honestly, I couldn't comprehend why they would still have places running in this manner. I didn't feel relaxed, I felt rushed because it was also almost closing time. Ha and Sha when it's closing time time, you better believe the door will be locked, and signs flipped to closed right on time. One 🌟 for my experience. Good luck, in the future...

I placed an order for a bacon cheeseburger. I told her I had ordered a while back and the bacon was left off. I had called and they said they would write it down for another time. The lady said "oh, I dont know nothing about that". So I asked if there was a list she could look at and she said no. I proceeded with the order-burger and tots. I asked for the total. She said she couldn't give me the total because her other line was ringing and someone was at the counter. Well if you don't give me the total, how do you expect me to pay. I was sending my son so I needed the exact. Lastly I asked how long. She said about 15 minutes or so. The whole interaction was unprofessional and tacky at its finest. So guess what, I left their burger right there with them. If you don't value me enough to make something as small as bacon right and be able to give me a total, you don't deserve my business and I won't be back.
