Tequila Johns Mexican kitchen & tequila bar — Restaurant in New Johnsonville

My husband and I have been here a few times and yes you do have to wait for your food but for the most part it has always been good. I will say that the chicken they serve with the Jim’s nachos is a little different I believe it’s pre cooked frozen chicken it just has a cheap taste about it. So tonight we where in the area and wanted to go but we where greeted at the door with not one but 2 servers saying it was going to be a 15 min wait for a table and it was going to be even longer wait to order food. We where also told that two people called in and they where short staffed, Ok I understand that your are short staffed but if I was the owner of this place I would lose it if my employees where telling customers at the door this,for one it’s doesn’t take that long to clean a table as long as you pre bus along the way it’s doesn’t take that long to get someone a drink and some chips and salsa.I would have been totally fine with the wait but when you are greeted at the door with You are going wait for this and that it’s like they want you to leave because they are busy and just don’t want to deal with anybody else coming in-it is really off putting as we where fixing to leave a couple was walking out the door and yelling you don’t want to eat here they had been waiting for 30 min and no one bothered to even get them a drink. I really feel like they should have just closed the place down for the night if they can’t handle what little business they get I would say there was only about 20 people there when we walked in and you mean to tell me 3 servers can’t handle that, I have waited tables for years in my past I understand being short staffed and busy but dang I’ve never be told or treated that way much less told or treated any customer that way,that’s just bad business. If you want to eat here just go in if you only see a couple of cars in the parking lot and you might only have to wait about 45 min...

This place is not to good in my opinion it cost 14 dollars for a chicken fiestas with a child size portion of chicken and it took a hour to get it but it did taste good I have to say when we were leaving I said can I have a cup of tea to go and they said no you can't and I said by I just spent $94.00 dollars for food and a &20.00 tip and I can't take a tea with me and they said they could not so I recommend you going to another place if possible and they may treat others different but I don't know, they treated me bad . but Mexican food is hot and I had to go immediately to the store and get me something to drink. I will never eat here again. Response to owners response .Well if You won't to tell the whole story the waitress refuses to give me a tea to go, so I went to the manager/ owner and he said it would be against the law to give me a sweet tea to go because they had some government organization tell them that they could not bring in or out cups because some kind of of alcohol could be in the cup and he said that he would go ahead and give me a small child's cup I just told him not to worry about it I would leave thirsty, I didn't want him breaking the law on my behalf, I have been to hundreds of Mexican restaurants and I haven't ever been to one that weighted the chicken I guess because I have always had more then 5 small pieces of bites size pieces and I have never walked out...

I rarely make it back to my hometown, but when I do I often stop by here because the food is pretty good and I am usually entertaining a few guests. The wait time for the authentic food gives me time to spend time with my guests before we eat. It just so happened that this year there was a death in the family and I had to be in town an extra time. Unfortunately I will not be returning again. This was my last chance for this place. Low and behold the same trashy reason I almost stopped coming before has found her way back behind this restaurants bar. To save the owner face I won't speak of the raunchy things I watched this girl do to patrons who unfortunately found their way here in this family restaurant with children present, but I will say that it doesn't fall short of taking guys and girls alike, who weren't employees from what I could tell, inviting them into the cooler to make a couple extra dollars tip for herself. And her foul language in front of everyone there is just raunchy. I was told they had gotten rid of her so I tried the restaurant again just the other night and was appalled when I walked in and saw her. Appalled so much I turned and left. I will find a new place to take my company who expect more from me than what this...
