The restaurant is under new ownership with a few month break in between. I assumed they were remodeling, but seemed like some paint was slapped on the wall with some TVs. With the condition and smell of the men's room they should have used the money to get those on par. I was in on a Thursday night and bingo seemed very popular but so loud if you were not participating it was overwhelming. The large crowd immediately dissipated once bingo was finished. When ordering food they gave a full menu but are only currently offering a limited menu. I ordered a French dip sandwich but was lackluster at best. It was dry and tasted like it came from the microwave. The tator tots were fresh and crispy though. I don't think I'll order food again but would come for a few drinks do to the convenience but better places are not far away.
Edit- I came back 8 months after my last poor experience with some friends for lunch. We arrived at 12:53 with not many people in the restaurant. One thing I can say from my experience with the red fox is if you're not a regular don't expect good service. The wait staff seem more concerned in talking with them instead of making sure everyone has a good experience. We ordered our food, 3 orders 2 build a burgers and a bacon cheeseburger. Both build your own burgers, arrived to the table almost 40 minutes from ordering and both were either missing or had additional toppings that were not ordered. The server did bring a few missing toppings after a little wait. My meal was comped without asking which I appreciate but the other build your own was Incorrect and when the bill came that was also incorrect. It still reflected missing topping on the other burger and for a coke instead of a water that was ordered. The bill was finally adjusted correctly and we were on our way just over an hour after we arrived. Do not expect a quick turn around if you are in a hurry. On the plus side the bathroom does smell quite a bit better than stated in my first review. The food was decent for the price minus the incorrectness. All things considered this will be my absolute last time visiting...
Read moreDecent bar and grill with a small town vibe. We've visited twice in the last month. The menu states the ground beef is from the local Grazing Acres farm in Elko. The waiter said the beef for the steaks is also from Grazing Acres. It's interesting that the menu doesn't state that fact. It only says "Locally Sourced"
The server was friendly and personable. He seemed really laid-back.
Before taking our order, the waiter informed us that they were out of the Brisket Lucy... bummer... That's what I was going to order.
I tried the Strip Steak, my wife and daughter each ordered one of the burgers. The steak had good flavor, even though it was slightly more done than I prefer. I ordered it with the au gratin potatoes, and it also came with "vegetable of the day" ...basically just boiled carrots and green beans.
One odd thing that occurred when paying with a credit card. After inserting my card in the handheld credit card payment terminal, the server handed it to me and walked away. Leaving it up to me to figure out how to print my receipt, and then decide what to do next. Do I just leave it on the table, or wait for him to come back? Weird...
Overall, the value and quality of the food is good. And the wait time to receive our food after ordering is reasonable. My only complaint is that the waitstaff could be more attentive to refilling soft drinks. Both times we visited, I had to ask for a refill. I'm sure if we ordered alcohol that would be a...
Read moreDecided to try out this establishment since there is new ownership. Walking in the interior hasn't really changed at all. The menu is different, but my husband ordered a couple different items and each time they returned to the table stating they no longer have that item. This information was relayed by the cook yelling to the servers that they don't have it. 3rd time of ordering he finally chose something they do actually still have on the menu. I ordered the pan fried fish. It was bland and a bit soggy. The menu stated that it came with green beans and au gratin potatoes. After paying for the meal, we noticed an up charge of $2 for the au gratins. Our daughter ordered mac and cheese and she said she liked it. Husband had a Minnesota PoBoy and it was ok - deep fried fish nuggets. The best thing we had were the french fries and the ice cream at the end of our daughters meal. There seemed to be a lot of wait staff standing around talking personal stuff and figuring out the POS system, but only 1 person waiting tables. Unless there are some serious changes, not sure that we...
