Came here to celebrate a birthday on a Thursday evening. They were having an event where vendors were set up selling small goods along the outer area of the dining hall.
We did about 6 tastings each of different wines and then ordered a few glasses. For food we ordered the pulled pork sandwich and chips and the beef sandwich with au jus.
Pros: -Lots of seating indoor and outside. There’s a covered patio ceiling fans outside so this would be a great place to come in spring or summer to relax. -they have a pretty large parking lot -there’s a full bar so they have wine, spirits, and beer which is really helpful when some people want wine while others don’t! -they have a good sized menu with substantial food, not just cheese and crackers! -staff were super friendly and worked as a great team! Good advice on different wines as well
Cons: -food was average, it took about 20 minutes to come out but it wasn’t hot when we got it which was disappointing. Definitely would’ve preferred fries over chips as well. -although it was great to see the different vendors and items they were selling the space was very cramped. With all the tables in the area and booths set up all around it you were unfortunately bumping into people and squeezing by them to get anywhere -I like the idea of ordering at the bar but it does pose a problem when it’s busy and there isn’t enough staff behind the bar you will wait a while so in the future if it’s busy we’d probably just settle for a glass of wine instead. -I wished there was a better selection of different wines. They had a lot of their local wines which were all different flavors (apple berry etc) but for people who don’t enjoy sweet wines tailor your expectations accordingly
Overall I’d come back to see if the wine selection has changed and to take advantage of the patio when...
Read moreWell, the food was fantastic. But, Our waitress was tired and didn't want to be there. She gave zero effort and was annoyed we were there. The time between her stops at the table was lengthy (20 minutes between ordering drinks and drink arrival, then another 15ish minutes before we finally could stop her to place our food order), and when we would politely try to get her attention (excuse me, ma'am?) as she walked by, you could tell she pretended not to hear us.
We sat down at 5pm, 4 adults, 2 glasses of wine, 4 entrees and 2 desserts. Food around 7pm and didn't get bill closed and out until 8pm.
We will be back, the food, scenery, and music all was fantastic. But hopefully we get a more friendly and responsive server.
Why 4 stars even though the service was significantly subpar? Because this isn't a strip mall subway franchise with bad attitude teenagers. The Quarry is somebody's lifendream and funded by their life savings that they invested into our community. Lots of money was sunk into this place.
Running an independent business is hard, and running a restaurant is even harder. There is no corporate to swoop in with standardized re-trainings and staffing models.
It's not fair to trash an independent business over one bad experience. I appreciate that someone took this immense financial risk to provide a non-chain dinner experience in our area. We want this place to succeed.
Tonight was caused by understaffing and a waitress that could use a refresher in positive customer service. I hope management takes this to heart and makes some...
Read moreWent to the Quarry Wine Garden for a birthday party yesterday. It being a very hot day in Missouri, we decided to sit inside. Unfortunately their air conditioning was so ineffective we all had sweat pouring off of us within an hour of arrival. We even found most of the party wandering outside (where it was over 100 degrees). Even in the shade outside it was terribly uncomfortable...all of this shortened our visit there significantly. Now let’s discuss the menu... it appears to be elegant and refined. Some appetizers were ordered for the table. The charcuterie tray had hunks of cooked meats and cheese that melted in the heat of the inside temperatures. It looked completely undesirable. I ordered a salad with mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes with a smoked tomato dressing. The dressing was disgusting looking and if those cherry tomatoes were heirloom I’d be shocked. I also tried the risotto crab cakes. They were too bready and hard with virtually no crab to be found. The band was excellent but unfortunately played 50s and 60s music so loudly that you couldn’t hear each other. And it just wasn’t an appropriate genre of music for most of the folks in the venue. And as others have said, the service was slow. The wine list was good, that was a positive, and they have a full bar unlike many other wineries. But that just wasn’t enough to keep us there. Needless to say we won’t likely be back. It is unfortunate, it is a beautiful spot that has...
