This is a true review. I have messages, witnesses, and the contract to prove every statement I make.
*The wedding cake contract was signed 7/10/22 for 08/19/23 wedding *Tried reaching out for final arrangements at the beginning of July 2023. Finally gave up and called 7/27/23. *Responding to messages are not a priority. That's a big issue for a bride-to-be! She was asked 3 times to update their file for the changes they made. Apparently, they weren't updated at all. *After calling, the following message was received: I apologize for the quoted price. The price I quoted was 2022 prices. And I had not originally included the flower costs. My apology for the misinformation on the phone. This was 3 weeks prior to the wedding, over a year after the contract was signed. This added about $175 to the agreed price. It was too late at that point to make other arrangements, so we paid what we had to. The flower price was understandable, because the contract stated it would be added later (although we had too many. I'll get to that) but the price of the cake itself, should NOT have been changed after signing the contract. *The cake was to be all white. The bride specifically stressed no green leaves (this was mentioned many times). It had green leaves. *There were to be 3 roses on the top and bottom tiers. There were at least 4 roses on each layer. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it made a big cost difference. They were priced per flower. *When the cake was brought in the building, it cracked. That scared the groom! After seeing the grooms reaction, she assured him it could be fixed and she did a good job with the repair. *The cake looked very nice, actually beautiful, but the toppers were not secured to the top. The groomsmen took turns putting the toppers back on the cake. Wedding games.. *The beads on the side kept falling off during dinner, pinging off the floor and rolling. Guests were entertained. We were not. **Please note, this was not a hot or humid day. It was not set up in the sun. *Ordered raspberry/almond mixed filling, got plain raspberry. *The tiered wedding cake tasted awful. Best description would be freezer burn. It was gritty and dry. The bride and groom were embarrassed to serve the guests. Luckily, a sheet cake was also ordered and it was much better than the wedding cake. Not sure why, but a sheet cake was delivered that served 120 guests, instead of the smaller one ordered for 50 guests. I guess it was best, since the tiered wedding cake was so bad. Not sure if this changed the price. *All in all, it was a beautiful showpiece. However, it was a very expensive showpiece.
Note: This did not ruin the wedding. It was an unexpected snag on an otherwise perfect day. Just want to warn others about what happened in our experience. It was disappointing and our only bad issue.
I know they got a lot of great reviews for birthday cakes. Maybe just...
Read more10 stars!! We chose Jennette to make our wedding cake this past June and she did a fabulous job. She was so easy to work with, laid back enough to feel totally comfortable from the start and open to discussing ideas. At the same time it was clear early on, she is highly skilled in her craft and very capable of creating whatever your heart desires. The set up at our ceremony went so smoothly, the cake arrived looking stunning and she decorated with fresh flowers once we had it in place. We went with a lemon cake, raspberry filling and lemon buttercream and flavor was top notch - our guests were raving about how delicious it tasted. I also got four different flavors of cupcakes and each one was so unique and hands down best cupcakes I’ve ever had. Lots of compliments on those as well. Jennette pays special attention to detail, each cupcake was decorated to perfection. She absolutely knocked it out of the park and having such a special, personalized wedding cake really added to a day I will never forget. Any event I have in the future that calls for baked goods - Windy Hill Bakehouse will be my go to. Thank...
Read moreWindy Hill Bakehouse is by far the best bakery in the Pittsburgh area. They made our wedding cake, individual cakes for our anniversaries, she will be doing our baby shower, and we've even gotten some baked goods from them at local get togethers. Every flavor that they have is great and each bite leaves us wanting more. Fortunately, the prices are so good that getting more is pretty easy!
Jennette is super easy to work with and every time we see her, she remembers our names and it's fun to catch up while snacking on whatever new goodie she has. I can't recommend Windy Hill Bakehouse enough! If you haven't tried it yet, this is your sign to order...
