This was my first time eating here yesterday, wish I would have stopped in sooner! Perfect place to grab some breakfast, atmosphere and staff were so welcoming. Fresh coffee and a pretty big selection of snacks and farm stand items. I tried the Pumpkin Spice coffee and the Breakfast Bowls, which were both incredible! (Breakfast bowl had sweet potatoes, fresh farm eggs, spinach, avocado, cheese and tomatoes.) Will be back again soon for sure! If you haven’t checked this place out I highly recommend stopping in!

We came for Fish Fry Friday at Root Down Market and it did not disappoint! The fish was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—and the fresh-cut fries were spot on. Everything was homemade and delicious, from the tartar sauce to the coleslaw and even the fresh pickle. You can really taste the care in every detail. Dave and Erica are such a treasure to our community—it's clear they put their heart into everything they do. Can’t wait to come back!

Adorable cafe and market. Extremely clean and well organized. Service was quick, extremely friendly, and personable. Unfortunately, the items we had in mind were already sold out for the day. Food was decent but a little pricey (likely on point with local products though so I'm not complaining 😊). Hope to see a larger menu, more bakery items, and maybe some outside seating in the future! Bonus: love the old Maine map on the wall!

I’ve been enjoying the dinner service on Friday evenings after a long day of classes at UMF. The spot is super cozy and welcoming and the menu is top notch and full of delicious surprises. This is my go to when classmates want to grab a bite, but I feel equally comfortable dining alone.

They offer quality gluten free bread and bun options for the sandwiches and one evening they went above and beyond for me when I realized after ordering that part of the sandwich I had chose was breaded and therefore I would not be able to eat it. I was ready to claim defeat, but they were so kind about it and they took care of me and it really spoke to their quality of service and care.

They also have a great little selection of baked goods (the gluten free peanut butter cookies are incredible), and local goods such as loose teas, milks, honey, pottery and more!

Overall, it is a wonderful little place with nice people and high quality food. I look forward to continuing to enjoy it over the next two years of...

Went to Root Down Market on their opening weekend and I was immediately impressed. The food was amazing! They support local and use fresh, high quality ingredients from area farms and shops. I've been back twice since that first weekend and have not been disappointed. The Carrabassett Coffee is always fresh and hot and they continue to add delicious new offerings to the menu. I highly recommend the Street Toast Breakfast Sandwich. Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Table space fills up fast and there can be a short wait at times but it's worth it. The owner/operators and employees are all very friendly and they work hard to keep things moving. Overall, nothing but good things to say about Root...

Delicious food, great atmosphere. The chef was walking by, greeted and showed us around when we walked in the door. Lovely staff, friendly and busy cleaning or checking on customers the whole time. Ordering is easy, simple and tasteful menu with rotating specials. Gf/v options available. Several booths and tables for in-house seating. We took out food to go, along with a selection of their fresh pastries. Also a small market of fresh local foods! I wish I could add more stars. Root Down Market is a perfect option for anyone looking for delicious food you can't put down, local goods, and a welcoming atmosphere...
