My husband and I were in for lunch yesterday. We both have been coming to Zeppe's since its inception, sometimes on bike nights, (but don't order food those nights because it is so crowded) We both like the atmosphere (classic rock music, 'rock and roll' decor) there VERY WELL, which is why we return, with the hopes of good food. Hit and miss with food. We both got salads, which were presented piled high in a tiny dish, making it impossible to eat from without spilling (we both just poured our salads onto the plate under the tiny dish in order to more easily eat) Yesterday he got the meatball sub, which tasted very good, but later left my husband sickened with the 'trots'. I got a burger, and, like past visits, the bun was burnt/charred crispy charcoal, and inedible (I did not eat the bun). The outside of the burger was bitter it was so burnt, while the inside was bloody raw (try a less hot grill/lower the fire, for better results). The onion which arrived on the burger was the end piece, complete with hard inedible core, and when I asked for a replacement slice without this feature, it arrived 1/2 inch thick, (inedible unless I cut it myself with my own pocket knife). In the past, I have asked the owner about why the buns come out burnt like they were pressed into red hot expanded metal, and he said, "customers like the buns that way" and I replied, "Really? Burnt?" (A helpful hint; people like the flavor of a TOASTED or GRILLED/TOASTED bun, but we do not like burned food that is gritty with scorched charcoal.) My husband and I still like the atmosphere, despite yesterday's meal, but every time we anticipate good food, we then swear off Zeppe's every time...(the ladies room stinks like urine and like a dirty mop was used. No dirty mop should ever re-enter the clean mop water. Directions: have several clean mop heads handy, clean mop head goes into the solution and mops until it becomes dirty, THEN REPLACE THE SOILED MOP HEAD WITH A CLEAN ONE, not allowing a soiled mop head into the clean solution (otherwise, one is just spreading the pee-pee and sh*% kicker boot dirt all over.) Diligently change mop heads until floors are clean, then wash/disinfect mop heads before their next use. Order of cleaning, if one person has that job- 1. kitchen, 2. dining area, 3. bathrooms LAST. For a place that size, it will take 6-8-12 mop heads for...
Read moreWe frequent Zeppe's in the summer time to hear their nice selection of bands on Wednesdays (bike night is great!) and weekends. They have an indoor area with a pizza shop vibe and on nice days it opens up to their outdoor area which also serves food and has a more bar-like environment. Bands are outside unless there is bad weather. They don't seem to have servers in a section of the outdoor area closest to the stage but there is a bar nearby. The bartenders and servers are always hustling. We've only had their pizza and drinks which are always good!
There is an obvious time in the evening when the scene turns into more of a partying atmosphere; people are drinking, dancing, feeling a buzz and getting a bit silly. That is the time for people to take their children home. Without fail, there is always someone that brings their small children who act like they are at Chucky Cheese. It's a blast for the parents who believe their fellow patrons are all sitting around admiring their adorable offspring as they run between tables and do pushups in the dance area. I know Zeppe's values all of it's customers but, people, please find something more wholesome for your children instead of having them hang out at a bar.
This past Saturday night we ordered and paid for a pizza at the bar. The bartender asked where we were sitting and we told her we were on the right side of the band. Eventually we saw that a pizza was dropped of on the table to the left of the band. No one was sitting there (there was only one chair which was not occupied). We waited a few minutes and then I walked over and asked some people standing nearby if the pizza was theirs. They said no. It was a supreme pizza just like we ordered. Apparently the food runner just left our pizza on an empty table without confirming who it belonged to. We took it over to our table and I had to raid the unattended bartender's station for plates and napkins so we could enjoy our semi warm, well traveled, $28 pizza. Last night was not a...
Read moreThis review is based on purchases of the Pizza both in house and carryout, I find that Zeppes Pizza orders are VERY INCONSISTENT, I've purchased them usually during a busy time period such as Friday or Saturday's around 4:30pm to 7pm and no 2 pizzas are the same regardless of the amount of toppings. One time the sauce will be perfect the next it may be to sweet or to sour, yet another may be loose and another goopy and dry. The sausage is a toss up if you order something like sweet sausage hold on cause many times it may be HOT sausage. Pepperoni pizza's are extremely over seasoned HOT even for pepperoni get those tums out...
One thing I all so find they like to BURN the pizza ... Why? who knows, you can tell them "cook it lightly" and "don't burn the crust" and sure as the sun will rise it will come out BURNT and dry. Zeppes used to have a good pizza but today I think its all about the push and not the great product. this last pizza I ordered was burnt dried and nothing I would of wanted, If i knew I was going to get this kind of poor quality I would of just went to dominos...or pizza pizza,, ....because this is where this place is heading if the don't take charge in the kitchen
Management need to supervise the kitchen for quality not production or soon customers will leave and go down the street like I am now gong to do. Oh tell your employees to stop vaping in...
