Bob Lobster: A Seafood Delight in Newburyport, MA Address: 49 Plum Island Turnpike, Newbury, MA 01951 On a pleasant day, with a craving for a mouthwatering lobster roll, I found myself at BobLobster in Newburyport, MA. I stumbled upon this hidden gem last year while doing a photoshoot, and ever since then, it has become my go-to place for delectable seafood. With a busy day behind me, I eagerly anticipated my visit to Bob's Lobster, where I knew I would be able to feast on their renowned dishes. The Spicy Lobster Roll: As I settled into the cozy ambiance of Bob's Lobster, I couldn't resist ordering their Spicy Lobster Roll. It arrived beautifully presented, with a generous amount of succulent lobster meat nestled in a toasted buttery bun. The unique touch that sets Bob's Lobster apart is their spicy sauce, which adds a tantalizing kick of flavors to the already delicious lobster. Each bite was a harmonious blend of sweet and savory, leaving me craving for more. I always wanted some extra spice in my lobster roll, and this place delivers. Thai Chili Sauce Calamari: To complement my lobster roll, I decided to try the Thai Chili Sauce Calamari. The dish arrived with perfectly fried calamari, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The addition of spring onions and a drizzle of spicy sauce on top added an extra layer of flavor and a delightful touch. The calamari was cooked to perfection, and the combination of the Thai chili sauce with the tender calamari created a taste explosion that left me amazed. If you find yourself in Newburyport, MA, and craving a sensational lobster roll or a delightful seafood experience, look no further than Bob' Lobster🦞 . . . . . #newbury #foodie #seafood #northshore #lobster #boston #massachusetts #foodtravel #lobsterroll #bostonfoodies #calamari #traveltips #bostonfoodies #massachusettsfood #newengland #newenglandseafood #eastcoast #foodtiktok

we had a pretty mixed experience at bob’s lobster. bottom line: some food is great, other food not so much. customer service is pretty lacking. i ordered a spicy lobster roll, and my husband ordered blackened fish tacos (a special). we upgraded from chips to french fries for $1 each; our check total was around $40. my spicy lobster roll was fantastic! i loved the spicy flavors. the bread wasn’t as fresh as i was hoping but it was still good. however, my husbands blackened tacos didn’t look blackened at all, but rather fried. we asked the server who brought our food if it was blackened; he said yes (as you can tell from the picture, they were not). we asked another server just to be sure and she said she’d check. she came back from the kitchen and said that there was a misunderstanding when we had ordered “blackened” tacos and that they thought we meant well done fish tacos. (not sure how that was miscommunicated tbh) they were happy to replace them with blackened tacos but we just needed to go back up to the counter and pay the extra $4 in price difference between those and the fried fish tacos. we were a little disappointed that they didn’t just offer to replace them with the correct tacos that we ordered by their name on the menu. given that i was half done with my lobster roll, we decided just to stick with the fried tacos instead of deal with the hassle. unfortunately the fried fish tacos were super flavorless. my husband didn’t even finish them. :( so all in all we’re torn about coming back. i enjoyed my lobster roll but not sure if it’s worth the splurge ultimately, especially with other great food options nearby in newburyport.

It was my first time ever trying both lobster and fried clams. I was so excited to try a lobster roll, and seeing that I could get a "Fat Lobster" and get the best of both worlds, plus onion rings and coleslaw, my mind was made up! I was prepared to wait, knowing how esteemed this place is and how busy it can get. I arrived around five or six in the early evening on a Tuesday and it was not busy at all, so I got my food pretty quickly after I ordered! I enjoyed it outside, although there is also indoor seating, but it was a gorgeous day out. The "Fat Lobster" is a lobster roll with coleslaw topped with fried clams and onion rings that comes with a bit more coleslaw on the side. This sandwich was mindblowing! The lobster was so FRESH, perfectly dressed, and the fried clams were tender inside of the crispy breading. The onion rings were on the soggier side, but I didn't mind the texture considering how crispy the fried clams were. The prices were also amazing! I only paid around $50 with tip included for all this food! But if I lived around this area, I would be in trouble because I would want this at least three times a week! It was so delicious! I will dream about this lobster when I return to the suburbs away from the coast.

We were sitting on Salisbury Beach looking at their menu and said to each other wow this food all looks so delicious. So we left our beach chairs and headed there for lunch. What a disappointment! Nothing that we ordered was as presented on their social media.

The fried avocado lobster roll was drowned in butter and soggy, the avocado itself was bitter. Overall it just didn't taste good I ended up just picking the lobster out.

The fried shrimp tacos weren't anything like they looked online. They didn't have any Sriracha crema or pickled red onions. It was just bland battered shrimp stuffed into a tortilla with some coleslaw.

On to the sweet and spicy Calamari, of which was neither sweet nor spicy. It didn't have any of the Sriracha aioli or sweet chili sauce on it. It was just fried Calamari it didn't even come with marinara that usually goes with plain Jane fried Calamari. When we asked about it they said that's how it comes. But it said right on our receipt chili Calamari. Ended up using cocktail sauce.

And finally, the lobster poutine. Which they initially forgot in our order. After it finally arrived it was the biggest disappointment of all. It was just little bits of lobster and buttery soggy fries. There was nothing poutine about it. An overpriced waste of the little bit of lobster they sprinkled over it.

We tipped them generously, on a payment tablet that they weren't sanitizing between customers even though you have to sign your name with your finger, there wasn't even any hand sanitizer present I had to ask for it and borrow the cashier's. Even the precautions they claim they are taking online is not as advertised.

All in all it was a total waste of time and money, nothing is as enticing as it looks on their social media. Definitely not worth leaving the beach on such a...

2022- 5 stars - The food and vibe is always worth coming back for. Parking is very limited but staff does their best to assist and direct cars. Sometimes evenings are buggy so we prefer to go for lunch. Outdoor seating, husband loves the lobster, haddock is very good, chicken tenders are good but too much breading and not enough chicken, fries are great. UPDATED 2024 REVIEW - 1 star We were so disappointed. We've been going here for quite a few years now and it was always great. This time there was ample parking and we didn't know why but unfortunately now we know. Prices jumped up and quality went way down. Before I would get a nice fresh piece of haddock but this time it was tasteless PIECES of haddock, I didn't even finish a fourth of the small serving. Fries were basic and not like they used to be, lobster was smaller than it's been in the past, onion rings were broken and barely coated, only thing I think was better was the chicken tenders bc they had more meat but they definitely were just standard processed chicken tenders. It was $9.99 for 3 small tenders and fries. Overall we got 1 soda, 1 beer, 1 tenders kids meal, 1 lobster, 1 side of onion rings and 1 small haddock pieces boat and it was over $100. We went to another restaurant the other night and got a lot more food for about the same price. Also they no longer have servers just a buzzer you hang on to until your food is done. Disappointed but I hope it...
